One of my tanks got shot by a cannon through a plane wreck. I needed to shot in first person through a tiny gap to kill the cannon.
A moving tank can be observed out to 250m. An enemy AT gun will almost certainly get the first shot unless you are using infantry to scout ahead.
Who shot first?
If your tank was hit and penetrated the crew will be stunned for several seconds.
If the enemy fires again, hits and penetrated the crew will be stunned again.
Did you use first person view to check the field of fire?
Tanks have limits in depression and elevation. Maybe the tank couldn't depress the gun far enough to fire back.
