I’m very pleased with the new update but this is the only thing that bugs me besides the flamethrower wearing a gas mask. I dare you to try to find a reference photo of a German wearing his scarf like that that isn’t a freezing POW marching to Siberia.
Thank you for your answer! I googled it - didn't know that this really is a kind of a protected "trademark."
OK, my answers are this:
1.) Well, I for one would wear my tube scarf / toque this way in the freezing cold of the Russian winter.
2. I googled these words: " German Wehrmacht Soldier with scarf Winter " and found a link to a site called "Festung dot net" which shows a photo of a soldier with a rifle shouldered (so he is no prisoner), wearing the tube scarf liek this. But it is the only one I could find.
3. Exactly like you I have never seen German soldiers wearing the scarfs like bank robbers - never on a photo or in a newsreel (Deutsche Wochenschau".
BUT: I can imagine that when a photo was taken or a camera team was adsent, the soldiers wanted to be seen, wanted to show their face to the people at home ("hey Mom, I'm doing well, I'm alive" AND it is conceivable that it was forbidden to present the Wehrmacht soldiers looking like bank robbers / gangsters. It is possible. A soldier with a hidden face looks more like an evil person, a soldier with an open visible face looks more like "the good one", a hero.
Just my thoughts on this.
4. I've seen this the first time in a Russian movie that is also available for free on YouTube.
The Russians have a somewhat different view on the Wehrmacht and I believe them when they say that in winter many Germans looked like this in early war.
The movie is called: Panfilov's 28. There is also a "Panfilov's 28 - Best scenes" video on YT. In this video the scene that I'm refering to starts at ca. 9:00 minutes.
But I know it is "only" a Russian movie and not a proof - and maybe the Germans were dressed like that only in this movie for to make them look more evil.
But in the end - I like it that way and I'm happy that there are a few models in the game, wearing the toque like this. So they don't get a cold nose. :D
Also, path finding for human units since this last update is broken. Snowbanks cause the human units to stop in their tracks. I have to manually walk them over or through them. It is a real pain when sending out medics.
It is a symbol of universal protection during armed conflict. So the use during an armed conflict by medical personnel, engaged in the activity of medical assistance, is considered within the law.
The use of the icon (both cross and crescent) by civilian medical services, including it's use to mark first aid kits etc, is considered unlawful.
So the cross should be red on a white background.
There's lots of them, seen it in film reels, slides, etc. I'd wager you've never spent prolonged time in such freezing temps, scarfs aren't simply accesories to drape around the shoulders. ;) About a minute in google netted these:
