Why is the AI seemingly so... dumb?
Compared to MOWAS2 it seems the AI is a lot more stupid honestly. Walking infantry will let the enemy ai shoot every single one of them down before ever thinking about shooting back, friendly ai gets blown to bits by grenades and doesn't even try to move away, SPAAG seldom engage planes, and when they do they don't reliably shoot them down.

I could come up with more examples... it's a great game but it's infuriating to have to babysit every single unit constantly.

Because the resources go into the production of more DLCs to make money and not into improving the base game

That's the dilemma with this game. It is currently the most detailed RTS that takes a "realistic" approach and is set in World War 2. If you have even the slightest interest in World War 2, the game will easily trigger feelings of joy and love in you while playing. On the other hand, it will probably kill you with a stroke or heart attack while you watch the AI do its "work". But since there is no real alternative to the game, I don't see anything coming that will change that in the near future. Micro management will continue to be necessary until the "Endsieg".

Yeah I agree with you. In well over 200h of gameplay I have a bit of a love/hate relationship with the AI.
Friendly AI that don't value their lives, enemy AI that decide that pushing an artillery piece into my defensive lines is a sound strategy and much more...

It's not the most detailed RTS of WW2. The most detailed one is Graviteam Tactics: Mius Front. But GoH is the most enjoyable because better UI, better graphics and better sound design (IMO).

The AI needs a lot of work. The Devs don't even seem to mention anything so I doubt they care enough to fix.

Hey, I really like DIY. Hell I even cook my own crack. But for all my love of the DIY trend, I would advise against doing eye surgery yourself.

I have looked at the models. I can only explain your conclusion that the models should be more detailed by the fact that you have tinkered with your eyes yourself. I strongly advise against doing this, because this is what happens.

If you were referring to the strategic and tactical level of the game, then that may be the case, but I wasn't talking about that in my post. And now forgive me, I think my crack is boiling over.

I don't get the DIY-thing. It seems like the wrong analogy for the situation.

You talked about realism, and yes, I think that Mius Front is one or two step further than GoH. In terms of balistics simulated, comms between units, offmap artillery, etc.. But in terms of graphics or sound design, GoH have the upper hand.

I don't know why you are so triggered by my opinion. My guess is that you didn't know about Mius Front and you felt stupid and/or offended by that. My apologies if I offended you.

Now take a deep breath. I know, life is tough sometimes, more when people have different opinions than ours. But you are in your safe place now. Nobody and nothing can hurt you.

I wouldn't be too sure about that, I'm afraid the police are reading this too. Nevertheless, thank you for your care I know it comes from a sincere place in your heart.

We are not the police, we are the FSB, quite close though.

Unfortunately for me the game has lost interest . I too am waiting for an update and improved AI behavior.
vlad_8011 Feb 10, 2024 @ 8:15am
I keep dreaming some day we will see dev update stating "we have decided to make completely AI overhaul as next goal", but then i wake up and sending my units straight under enemy fire with no way to shoot back, because even if they could, they would not do it.
In defense mission i set my infantry around my tanks/at guns and watch how enemy infantry come closer with grenades/at and destroy it, theyn they start to fire at my guys that are just standing, doing nothing. Thats typical GoH gameplay for me.

couldn't even figure out the basics of graviteam tactics, can't bother to watch hours of youtube videos just to understand simple movements of units lmao

I'm not kidding. Your own tanks will ignore your supply trucks, and drive into them. Actually killing them. Same goes with your AA guns. Your own tanks will drive into them and killing them. The supply trucks will do the same to the AA guns. But in that case, only the gun gets destroyed. Atleast the crew survives. But Jesus ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ Christ!!! Fix your ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ game!!!

What I enjoy most is anti tank cannons or tank destroyers (without turrets) which decide to rotate the other way to go aim at that one pilot or lost guy when an army of tanks is coming the way they were supposed to face.
They do it regardless of ammo locking, I wish we could just lock their viewing arc too. The only fix for non-turreted tank destroyers is to turn off their engine, but I am sure you see the issue with that too.
