All of them regardless of type have a regeneration of 6 per minute. So if you want long term supply on a mission you might be better off with 2 x supply crates rather than 1 x trailer.
Supply trucks use fuel but can reposition faster. For larger artillery pieces I just use an ammo truck.
For infantry guns, AT guns and mortars I generally use an ammo crate.
I use an ammo crate to loot the field after battles in Conquest are over. It's not worth using a vehicle for that because it costs more in fuel that the worth of the junk you get.
