Conquest and defensive battles
Hi.
Get nowhere near enough time to prepare.
What is the point in having engineers, when the enemy come straight out at you while laying mines and tank traps?

Can use a mod like this if you want a bit more time. Also not tragically difficult to make your own if you want even more.

I edit the game files to give myself my time, its not that hard if you have done slight moding before

Its good there are mods out there, but the developers should realise this is an issue.

Your mod is fantastic. I use all the 15 min every time, and still dont have enough time to effectivly lay mines and trenches.

Can you direct me to where that can be adjusted? Thank you.

IMO you should get roughly 10 minutes max with a skip preparation stage like SP missions

Having a very tini-tiny thing like THE DIRECTION FROM WHERE THE ENEMIES WOULD COME would VERY VERY make the game A LOT better.
I mean, the mines are basically useless because of this: You never know where the enemies would come. Just give us a general direction.

There seem to be a mod for this (I know, vanilla should fix it as well). But as a ad hoc solution you can use AI defenders to determine the directions, as those are usually facing to enemy spawn areas. When it comes to mine fields, yep it's pure guessing. A valid strategy is to mine areas where you definitely dont want unexpected surprises to come from, and point your guns to other zones.

I find the 6-7 minutes deployment time for defenses too strict, I can barely build naval gun positions (Finnish heavy engineers) in time (usually those are in the 3rd step when the enemy arrives). Not to mention other defenses.

A far better option would be to just let the player place their units on the map before the battle starts, so you don't have to move all your forces halfway across the map, while they get stuck on every minor obstacle. It would save a lot of time and cut down on the boredom of defensive mission, particularly if you have to restart a mission and do all of that ♥♥♥♥ all over again.
Then again, I guess the engine doesn't support that.

In 15 minutes, with the mod above, I can dig fox holes and place a few mines that have a small chance of having an effect. Yes I am slow, but micro managing all those little guys takes way more time for those of us that are not gifted with speed.

That is frustrating for sure.
The 15 minutes of defense preparation are too high, vanilla has a range of 5 to 7 min preparation time, this mod 15 min all the time, personally I made a mod with a time of 10 min maximum and 8 min minimum, I also increased the points to 2000 but I am thinking of lowering them to 1500.
The mod is currently in the testing phase.

Opposing reinforcements have their own appearance timer but also purchases timer, which means that if you increase the timer of the reinforcements, the AI buys units without being able to take them out, and once the timer runs out they throw everything at once

the issue is not time, but from where the enemy comes. they tell you way too late, so you may have invested your engineer, your mines, and your defenses in the wrong area. I found this annoying, 90% of the preparation is lost. They should tell RIGHT AWAY from where the enemy attacks,.
