The number of player i pretty easy to see when you host.
Local skirmish mode will be your best friend here.
Or 800 x 400 meters for example
Is it worth it to take long-range artillery for example on this or that map.
I found this really, really useful but the grid squares were removed quite a while back to make the minimap easier to read/see.
If you revert to an old version of the game (try older than 1.025.0) the minimap will have them and you can take a screenshot of it.
The old versions of the game don't have all the maps and won't have any from Liberation.
The semi official wiki site has a really dodgy map section. Very difficult to get the maps to display or save and they are also only the "old" maps. But you can get maps with grid squares there. Mostly multiplayer and not Conquest ones though.
The last option i to use the editor to export a minimap an then manually add the grid squares. This would give you an ultra detailed map but it is a lot of work.
