Love the game but too much micro managing....
New to the game. I love the game but I'd love it even more if it played more like a classic RTS like Company of Heroes 1 or Command Conquer Generals where you didn't need to select every individual unit whether tank or soldier to pick up more ammo or refuel etc there is just way too much micro managing & it can get overwhelming, I'd forget as I'd have so many units in the field & they would just get slaughtered.

Even in the tutorial on the last 2 secondary objectives I ran out of tank shells on the tank course and it wouldn't let me replenish the tank shells or finish that objective of knocking down the last steel plate.

Is there a way to play in a classic RTS mode? Like I said I love the game otherwise. I do find myself returning to other RTS games like COH 1 & 2 or C&C etc.

An annoyance of the base game was that I couldn't drag a box around multiple units and move them at once but you can in ostfront which is good.

This is why there should be time dilation in every offline/singleplayer gamemode! The micromanagement locks out 90% of players who aren't on adderal or are just old with slower reactions lol

I agree it withholds me from playing this game more

Unfortunately, every game in the series has been like this. All GEM games are known to be micro intensive. GoH is even a bit more forgiving, since you only need to stand in the circle around an ammo box or ammo truck to replenish ammo, whereas in older GEM games, you had to manually transfer the type of shell or bullet you needed.

Given enough time, I'm sure you'll get the hang of it.

also I figured out through some youtube video we can select units, hold shift and press one number (shift+1 for example) and then you just press 1 on your keyboard to select all those units. Much easier then to drag the mouse all the time.

and scouts can look further then regular units so, so good for sending them forwards first (with return fire instead of fire at will)

and resupply crates regenerate supplies every minute

Yes I agree mate, or they just add a Classic RTS Mode to make the game appeal to more casual RTS players who just want to get stuck in to a skirmish for an hour or so without the frantic panic managing lol.

Oh for sure man, I find myself leaving the game alone for days then I'll come back, get into an A.I skirmish but find myself leaving halfway through because all my vehicles have been disabled with ease etc lol. I get fed up and leave it even longer until I try again, I want to have fun not stress lol

Ok great thanks for the advice, that multi unit control will help a lot when moving groups at once. I have been driving the ammo vans up to groups of units in cover which helps a lot, worst I have to do is keep repairing it but everyone keeps the enemy from advancing.

Yeah if they put a speed slider in conquest it would go along way to helping reduce the micro stress, but theres alot they didnt bring.

Simply having a usable pause for singleplayer would make a world of difference. Particularly at the start of conquest battles, and x10 defense since you have a random blob of units, they may be quite far from the objective and you only have a few minutes to try and patch something together.

Not sure the specific issues that make conquest need to run in multiplayer mode, but overcoming it would be quite a gift for players. :)

At the very least, allow more than 9 quick select options. I remember an older RTS That allowed modifier keys with the numbers for this purpose, so you could have 1-0 assigned as groups, then alt + 1-0.

I would love to see a pause feature in singleplayer for giving orders. Some of the missions have been really frustrating. I will be setup perfectly defending a position, then the mission will force me to retreat. Well, the enemy immediately starts attacking and I simply cannot pull my troops back and into position quickly enough. I end up with men standing in the open or dying in the previous defensive position, when in reality they would have moved and taken up defensive positions themselves. I end up having to accept losses a lot of the times that I should not have to.

I would even welcome certain scripted pause sections in singleplayer, if we cannot have pause in all singleplayer modes for some reason. This would also make the game a bit more realistic. It is a fantastic game, but this aspect really frustrates me.

I am not great at micro, but I cannot imagine many people being able to move infantry (standard, mg, mortar, etc.), vehicles, resupply, repair, etc. very quickly. Especially, when immediately under attack. It becomes chaos quickly and being able to give orders to all units at once would really increase the games fun factor.

Totally , game is unplayable if I dont do it in coop simply too much going on.

Even just a better way to control and order units , having 1 unit select-able is a rough decision. Should be some sort of permanent grouping or call in option like COH

The worst example of micro managing was the mission where you had to take a town from Americans as Germans and rescue a big group of captured German soldiers. And than have to give like 20 Germans, ONE BY ONE, a weapon and ammo. After 4 i had enough and just placed them in the church to hide.

Lol! Haven't played that one, but for me it was an American one. You had to retreat from a forward defensive position and fortify a town while under a heavy German offensive and mortar fire. While doing that you also had to move soldiers on stretchers across a bridge and you needed to assign soldiers to a tank to repair it for defensive purposes. There is so much going on its ridiculous haha.

I agree the game needs some serious smart functions like Move and Attack, Assault, auto artillery, auto medic....grouping... buttons. Having put hundreds of hours into MoW and this game, this is one thing that really stopped the game from a true masterpiece

There is a slow time feature already implemented in the game - press backspace by default and select your desired speed. I use it all the time in SP cuz I suck.
