US have squads full of semi auto rifles and a huge number of armoured vehicles. Just about every vehicle has a calibre 50 mounted so they chew infantry up extremely fast from a distance your German infantry can't fight back at.
In Conquest Germany lacks the new Liberation infantry units (with large numbers of STGs) to match the US so it is difficult/impossible to match the US infantry capability. This makes your support weapons even more important but on a lot of the the new Liberation maps support weapons are limited in what they can achieve because of the limited field of fire.
The US units tend to cost a bit more MP to recruit but in Conquest against the USA that really doesn't mean much on higher difficulties because the AI has heaps and heaps of MP to spend.
You can loot an M1 Garand for all your soldiers but you might as well jut play as the USA if you do that. Why bother to play as Germany if you use all enemy weapons?
I found it too frustrating to deal with the infantry and 50 cal spam. I can win but it's just a pain to deal with and frequently on hardcore you can't replace your losses so you might win the battle but you just run out of MP in the long term.
Basically for a German campaign I have given up fighting the USA and went back to fighting against the USSR.
A team of randoms with no voice comms versus a team of organised and co-ordinated players using Discord is very one sided no matter what factions are played.
I've rarely had a game that was unbalanced just because of the factions/doctrines chosen but because players chose a faction/doctrine and have no idea how to "make it work".
The whole "bunch of randoms" just don't work well as a "team" thing is also a major issue.
These issues break PvP more than any faction can.
With all the performance issues since the release of Liberation I really haven't been playing any multiplayer games.
Our group had a few matches just after Liberation released.
Within our group I didn't notice a huge number of issues but the number of games we had was less than 10. People were still trying to work out the new units so there was a lot of "learning" going on.
I expect a lot of players are past the learning stage an know the right stuff to pick now.
Most players who own Liberation want to use the new Liberation maps but performance on Liberation maps is terrible on my older PC so I gave trying.
I expect the US to dominate early in the game with the firepower their infantry have. If the Axis can hold back the flood of infantry until their better tanks arrive then I expect things might balance out a bit better.
This really depends on the Axis players being able hold their half of the map and being able to effectively use the tanks and not just charge them into the centre of the map and have them taken out by a bazooka to the side/rear.
If you are trying to fight the US without the Liberation DLC then you're in for a tough fight.
Infantry is very powerful in PvP and the legacy German infantry squads really lack the firepower to match the US squads.
Finland have some good infantry squads which should balance the US ones. You just need people to choose to use them but they're not sexy and new so have less appeal.
Relatively early on, they brought some kind of absurdly fast firing crewed gun (not sure how it's called) with 4 barrels and explosive ammunition. I guess the only similar thing germans have rn is the wirbelwind tank and it needs a while till you can unlock it. But USA has towable and vehicular versions of it and like I said, they brought it early on and it chews away every german early/mid tank and of course infantry very easily.
The germans historically had 4-barreled, fast firing FlaK's (AA) aswell, why give it to the USA faction but not to the german?
They also brought tanks with 100+ mm armor after only 3 or 4 battles. I don't use AT guns so I had a hard time fighting them with the early german tanks. After a few retreats and wins I was eventually able to research panzer 4 which has HEAT rounds. HEAT doesn't fly as far as other tank rounds, but it overperforms at penetration and solved that problem for me.
Their semi-auto infantry rifles are historically
correct but I feel like the germans are missing historically weapons to counter that meaningful. The germans had semi-auto too. The Gewehr 43 short G43. Devs should really consider patching it into the game.
The full auto Sturmgewehr 44 short STG44, is also missing in the game but I am okay with that since the germans have their MP40s for close range and STG44 was designed for close/mid range with better accuracy and maybe would outperform americans semi auto rifles in this game and as a result we would have smt unbalanced again.
Maybe replace Gebirgsjäger's weapons with G43?
Both the STG and G/41/G43 are in game but are not found in Conquest infantry squads in sufficient numbers.
The 75mm infantry support gun M1A1 gets an extra 10 metres of range.
The HMG spam is also terrible.
The US gets three recon troops mounted in a jeep with an increased field of view. Germany has nothing to compare to this cheapo fast recon unit. The BMW motorbike isn't a recon unit and neither is the basic kubelwagen. You can research the Aufklarer kubelwagen but it's slow and has a 50 round drum MG that spends just as long reloading as shooting.
Back in the CtA Conquest days there was only one way to play (on higher difficulty’s) rush Tank research and main tanks. With GoH it was so refreshing to see that Infantry had a valuable role. You could go against the Rus with only AT and Infantry and it would work out. Very different playstyles and deck combinations were valid. Now with US it is again the rush Tank research and main Tanks... unfortunate development. The German infantry is only to maintain sight. I had a full Brandenbuger squad (2 MG42) vs 3 Amis one with a BAR both groups behind a stone wall cover. They won... nothing to add. Just go stupidly for Tanks and use cheap infantry that is the way but no fun. Playing against UdssR again, way more room for Experiments and interesting fights.
Of course USA is amazing if you play them yourself. Try playing another nation against them.
It isn't impossible, but the challenge is greater compared to the other factions.
All went well until we were about the take the first objective, then the squad of infantry stopped taking orders. I almost ordered the tracks to open fire on them, but decided to leave them to their fate.
So the Officer, the tracks and the gun tried to take the next objective, but that didn't go well.
I am new to this game, should I expect more of that playing the US?
I havent played USA but units not taking orders shouldn't happen regardless what faction you play. It happened a few times to me too. Direct controlling a unit of the squad that refuses to perform orders and walking around a little bit with w,a,s,d, solved it for me every time.
USA is good on maps with cover but 75% of the other maps your just gonna get wiped off the map.
American tanks are a bit expensive compared to other tanks of equal or even better capabilities...
