Making units selection more interesting in Conquest
I think it is very sad to have such a large number of units available, yet I always buy the same units when building my groups. I would never include halftracks or other exotic units as I have to focus on efficiency. So I will always aim for best AT gun, best arty, mortar, INF unit and tank. Ab absurdo, I could rush PAK 40 and quickly have my 75mm shooting at Stuarts or BT 7 with the current system. This is not realistic (and not very fun).

A way to incentivize players to choose more diversity would be to weigh units research and purchase cost with some kind of time scale.

For example, you could divide a Conquest campaign in, let's say 4 periods (41, 42, 43, 45 and adapt differently for the US campaign) and take the year at which a unit is mass produced (for example 43). You could research (and purchase) this unit in 41 but it would cost you 3 x more. And if you "are" in 42, it would cost 2 x more.
You could maybe leave INF out of this system as there were Red Guard and "Grossdeutschland" units since the beginning of the war. But you could adapt their equipment (a long awaited improvement).

What do you guys think?

I agree about the current research system being flawed.

Personally I'd rather see a force pool like in the old Close Combat games with the added twist of unlocking more modern units as the war goes on.

Try this mod:

It divide research tree by years and make some really nice addition, would suggest to read description, but it make it a little bit harder with unit numbers.
Give it a try,it's a nice mod with some great sub-mods

Speaking about reseach reworks i'd like to throw this in the ring too!

Doesn't split them by years but more into branches.
Anti-Tank, Heavy-Tank, Luftwaffe, Logistics etc. So you can advance in these sections you think you will lack. Also the period of time is dedicated to Latewar (43+) Gives me a lot of Company of Heroes vibes :D

But to be fair Max Drechsler's A&Rm mod (posted above) is also a great choice, you should try both imo :D

urgently we should review the American research tree. I never play USA, I tried but impossible, it's a maze without any understanding

it's a jumble at first glance but it's not impossible

Currently like 90% done with a US campaign however units are not so interesting and seem limited, lacks decent anti-tank units for early game, tanks are not at all diverse or interesting, infantry section lacks separate MG squads, also some tanks such as Pershing and Super Pershing are locked and can not be researched for some reason.
