Beyond the issues specific to dynamic conquest -- the host is doing all the army management and spawning in all the units -- it's quite annoying how the coop spawning is generally handled, where (I think) units are assigned to the player with fewer units and thus you will often find yourself spending a whole lot of time tediously transferring units between players. Furthermore, it's awkward that the coop spawn menu UI is literally shared between players, so that they are seeing each other's button presses and sometimes fighting over control of the menu. Another sign that this is really bootstrapped. Between these two quirks, I find myself spending too much time dealing with the spawning micro-management and clunky UI, and it only gets worse the more folks are playing together. (I'd probably play more coop and recommend the game much more if this were sorted out!)
As someone else pointed out above, fixing things about the spawning mechanics may require some adjustments to the game engine (I suspect any significant reworking of the dynamic conquest will). I realize this doesn't address the specific issues of the dynamic coop, but it'd be great if the developers could even just expose the logic for assigning who receives a particular unit, instead of it being basically hard-coded. If (for example) there's some variable keeping track of which coop player receives control of a unit spawning in, allowing access to this variable in the mission scripting would already go a long way to improving things. You could just add another button to the UI that toggles who currently receives the units -- this would still be a clunky and incomplete fix, but hopefully simple to implement and already miles better than the current system since it would eliminate guesswork and facilitate more interaction with the relatively large UI buttons rather than the tiny button in the top-right for unit transfers. (Dealing with the weirdness of the UI being shared would also be great...).
