definition of moderd snoflakes, i mean if a symbol was used historically there really should not be any problem with that symbol being used in a game that depict a historical setting.

with the exception of symbols that are forbitten by law of a country of course

and in this case it are only medics after all, soldiers whos job it is to help and potentially safe lifes of wounded soldiers so i dont see the "missuse" of the symbol in the slightest.

Between hearing to Mr AntiSJW edgy boomer and the Red Cross themselves on the subject I will go with the red cross opinion.

what comes next though? will german uniforms get replaced with fantasy versions of them because the company hugo boss feels offended?

this is just redicolous, especially if a red cross was used for medics in real history and is still used to marc medics in militaries all over the world to this very day in certain instances.

Because it's against the Geneva Convention and a war crime to use a red cross.

What...? I assume you meant that for armed soldiers to wear the red cross is a war crime, which is correct, unless you meant that putting the red cross in a video game is a war crime, in which case what the hell dude.

The actual reason is that the Red Cross is extremely protective of their symbol and don't want anybody else to use it, allegedly because if it is used in fictional contexts, like in games or movies, people will somehow no longer recognize it as a symbol of non-combattants in times of war.

It doesn't really make sense when you think about it for 2 seconds, as on the contrary seeing the red cross portrayed correctly as a non-combattant symbol in fiction would actually teach its meaning to those who ignore it, but oh well. the Red Cross has been known toi harrass and threaten devs with lawsuits, including indie devs. Hence why most devs don't want to bother and change it to green or reverse it (turning it into the Swiss flag) in order to avoid the sh*tstorm.

You may think it's dumb (and questionnable use of the Red Cross's donated money), but tha's how it is.

normaly when some one would bring this to a more Common Human sense Curt it will be allowed, but the Stress and the cost is not Worth it, so no one dare to Chalange it, it is a War Crime, Following some stupid laws that makes no sense. i gues a Jugde will dismiss the case very Fast, when we beginn to get charged for War Crimes in Videogames it beginns to get stupid XD sorry i guess 99% of us would sit in Prison if they would charge us with this nonsense

Nope. Red Cross will first ask you to remove the symbol from your game, then seek legal action. Any country that follows the Geneva Convention will abide by that law, so if you add a red cross to a game it is against the law and you can be punished for using it.

Using the Red Cross in video games is explicitly illegal in any country that follows the convention.

no one chalanged it So far as i know, People just said OK we change it. i guess if you would fight it they would loose, at the end, because How can it Be a War Crime when no Real war is happening AND it has bin done before in other Games, in mutch older games. and it was not a Problem there

I'm fine with it.

those who are not happy can simply mod it or wait for a mod to be created.

it's a non issue.
