(So no as of this post Gates of Hell : Liberation is not on sale)

The base game Gates of Hell : Ostfront is 75% off
The first DLC released Gates of Hell : Talvisota is 50% off
The latest DLC released Gates of Hell : Scorched Earth is 25% off

I didn't look at the combined bundle price but I assume it's also discounted ATM.

Yeah sadly, ive read somewhere that you have to since they license the engine for gates of hell

You sure about that? Because I just bought this without buying Call to Arms and it runs fine at least through the tutorial. There's no big sign on the store page about needing to buy CtA stand alone.

I've seen people saying they don't own Call To Arms and they can play Gates of Hell.

Either Valve have stuffed up or the terms of the license have changed?

Possibly Best Way have allowed BWS to publish in their own right? Perhaps BWS has purchased their own license and no longer needs to use the one DMS had for Call to Arms.

Who knows - my advice is don't ask too many questions until after you've purchased the game

is this a standalone dlc? can i play it on its own or do i need to purchase the actually game as well?

GoH is a standalone game now, not a DLC.

Indeed looking at the steam page it does not show up as needing CTA, wonder if I can just buy it ?

You can't buy DLCs without owning the main game so if you are able to buy GoH you are good to go. And dont forget you are able to refund, just try it out and if it's not working just use the refund option

so i can refund CTA vanilla and still play Goh with all the dlcs that came with it? because honestly CTA does not stand close to GoH

I believe you can only refund a game if you've played it for less than 2 hours.

Then why is it still called Call to Arms - Gates of Hell: Ostfront in the library?
