Let us decide when to end preparation phase on conquest.
Give players the option to decide when to begin battle. Having a timer limits the strategic placement of units. Loading units, moving them in position and placing objects and mines feels strategically lacking because of time constraint. Every battle ends up feeling the same and gets very repetitive fast.

It can be nice to add this as an option to conquest (a tik On\Off, similar to Fog of War)

Editing the files you can customize when de enemies start to spawn.

It is very easy to do, however if you put more time than you need you end up having to sit around waiting for the enemies to spawn, doing nothing, so really it isn't a great solution.

Depending on the map and what kind of tropps you have, you will need more or less time to set up your line.

Besides it gets a bit stale imo if you always have enough time to set up defences how you want.

Not to mention that if you did edit files there is a catch...
in vanilla you have 7 or 8 min in defense before ai starts its attack on you, but in offense battle starts immediately and ai spawn its units at the start the game...

However after you edit files from vanilla... stuff gets rather weird... or soo...
For example:
if you set to prep time to 10 or 15 min, you WILL get time this prep on defense... but you gotta wait 10 min in offense against ai too....
And this is a total bs to me.

But if comes to idea of this discussion...
It would be nice when creating new conquest and choosing diff and nation it would be better to have another option but only as "advanced option":
Time prep defense: 7
Time prep offense: 0
this would make it better so players would choose how much they want for defense
and offense too.

What else i could add/suggest to this idea is 2 thing
1. a way to increase cap for stages
2. and a way to increase amount of cp gained during game soo we would be able to spawn quick new stages.
Im sure i would set this 9999cp in 1 sec to spawn them all for sure :)

The gamemode needs some sort of system to determine the amount of time you get in defense. Maybe the option to buy time by spending points or whatever.

If a player had an "unlimited" amount time to prepare their defences you might a well skip the AI attack round altogether because having the player prepare their version of the Maginot Line to fight the AI would be a pointless waste of time.

You do know there are other rts games that allow this or offer more flexible settings and they seem to have no problems? AKA Steel Division 1 and 2, Warno, War Games etc. What is wrong with giving players more options that do not require developers to re-code the entire game. Why do people have to settle for less. Look at Ukraine and Russia, one side had plenty of time to set up defense. Most real world battle involved extensive preparations. Sure some battles can be spontaneous but this is a game so who cares, some of us like to take time and set up our defensive lines and choke points, others can start the battle immediately. IT IS AN OPTION. You do you I guess.

Developer could offer more depth design and give players the ability to simply invest in to stationary defenses that are already deployed similar to MG nests, but I assume it is too much effort for developer to rework conquest that much. So a simple "START BATTLE" button at the top center would do wonders. Then it is up to you if you need 5 minutes or 50.

You have a point, but currently I am barely able to deploy my units in their locations before they get attacked. There is zero time for things like defensive structures or mines.

Exactly. Rushing miners to take care of approaches while micromanaging your AT and armor placments is so realistic and atmospheric. On top of digging trenches, setting up mgs and mortars. And look the truck is stuck on ♥♥♥♥♥♥ pathing againg. /sarcasm

I was very specific in my reply.

I'm not against allowing more time jut not an "unlimited" amount of time.

If you have an unlimited amount of time to prepare your defence the AI would have no chance of winning.

All you'd need is a few call ins of engineer trucks and AP and AT miners. Place minefieldss and go AFK for the rest of the battle.

If the AI has no chance of winning why bother playing the battle at all?

Is it any different than playing the game on easy difficulty? Building a defensive wall and watching the AI try to crack it, sounds like fun to me.
