What game mode? Grand Campaign/Skirmish/Conquest?
What is happening when the FPS drops?
Explosions?
Smoke?
Fire / stuff burning?
The game just lags when lots of units are shooting at each other?
And by drops are we talking 3 FPS or 30 FPS?
What's a normal FPS for your PC whilst playing the first mission of the German Grand Campaign? 30FPS? 60FPS?
Hello
No mods,
I'm playing german skirmish (battle of moscow) with fog disabled,
FPS drops happen SOMETIMES changing between views, explosions, destroying stuff while passing with tank through, changing the camera zoom, moving camera to see my units, when my tank gets destroyed, lots of units shooting each other. (some random drops too without doing nothing just driving the tank)
Normal fps 90 (3rd person 140 fps), drops to 50-40 when this things happen causing a little pause each time.
I'm using max graphs with V-sync disabled.
R5 5600x, RX6600, 32GB 3000Mhz DDR4, Gygabyte B450 mobo, winblows 10
Didn't happen before the latest patch.
Also, units getting stuck all the time
I get low FPS like 50-60 FPS at the best of times and the FPS can drop down to less than 10 FPS in eight player (4v4) local skirmish battles (where I'm a spectator to the battle - I'm not actually controlling any units I'm just watching).
When the AI gets 200CP of units the game starts to really struggle. Smoke fire and explosions cause noticeable pauses.
In Conquest or the single player Grand Campaign I rarely have any problems. The number of units on the map is limited and the CPU does well enough.
It's a RTS not a FPS so you don't need a "twitch" type FPS to play.
I keep v-sync on and my monitor only supports 60Hz so I never see more than 60 FPS anyway.
If you're getting 40-50 FPS as a low I'd say you're doing fine.
The game engine appears unable to use multi-threading so it pretty much runs on a single CPU core no matter how many cores your CPU has. A single fast core seems to provide better FPS than a mid range multi cored CPU. So i7 > i5 > i3. As generations go on the clock speed goes up but the i7 always have the highest clocks and largest cache AFAIK.
