Stop soldiers running when spreading out around cover

Hi, when I put a squad in cover and spread them by holding right mouse, is there a way to stop them running into the positions?

When I do this when crawling into a position they sprint to the position and always get shot.

Let them run half-way to the position then click the prone position icon and they'll continue to crawl their way into cover. I have a programmed mouse button for prone, prevents panic trying to locate the icon when they need to go prone at the precise moment.

When spreading, instead of releasing the right mouse button, press left mouse button, your soldiers will get to cover crawling and not running.

Thanks guys, also smart choice about binding prone to mouse I have mouse 3 and 4, didnt consider that.

Bind prone to the space bar. Big and easy to push when things get hectic.

Once prone your soldiers will return fire but if they are out in the open they are pretty much already dead.
