I not finding any discussions or guides on artillery, I would like vets opinions on early/mid/late game artillery units as idk which is the most accurate with the most range or if it can shoot over stuff.

For PvP, Conquest or Skirmish (PvE)?

Your choice is dependent in part on the units you have available (doctrine in MP and Skirmish) so no matter how much you might want a particular "gun" or "rocket" if you didn't pick the correct doctrine you can't call it in.

The bigger the gun the more ammo it "costs" to resupply and the longer it takes to reload.
you'll end up sending MP and CP points on supply trucks.

Do you value "blast radius" or do you want pinpoint accuracy?
Do you want to be able to move it about the map to avoid counter battery easily? (Towed versus some USSR stuff that's on very slow tracked platforms.)
Are you looking to hide it up the very back of the map and try and shell your enemies without them being able to return fire because you are out of range?

The German 105mm LeFH18 shoots 390m.
The USSR 122mm M-30 shoots 405m.

These are the two basic pieces of artillery that you can call in without picking any special doctrine. They can be replaced as long as you have the MP and CP to call the unit in. (They don't use DP to purchase)

Generally the USSR have a longer range and bigger boom than the Germans.

I have the Finnish expansion but don't really use the arty for that nation. There were just so many options I gave up trying to figure them all out......

Remember if the enemy can't see it they are firing blind and at best it's like winning the lottery, unless your units are too static.
Keep enemy observers back and the long range arty starts to be less useful.

Rocket artillery is a different matter because it just splatters everywhere but seems to have a shorter range than tube arty.

mainly SP conquest (as i know pvp is a different beast) . and its best to put all that info out there because i sure as hell couldnt find it and the unit info page is completely useless for arty. id like to know all the ranges with accuracy as the shells get bigger? as well as if it can be towed or fire over hills? I hate some weapons look like they aim up and down but do not XD lol

Check out Kampfer91's 3 guides in the weapons category.
Doctrine Units in German Skirmishes
Doctrine Units in Finland Skirmishes
Doctrine Units in USSR Skirmishes

He critiques the various weapon systems and points out the actual ranges of different types of Artillery, AT guns, Infantry weapons, Armor...etc...etc... I find it very informative in my weapons choices not only in Skirmish mode but in every game mode that I play.

All artillery can fire over hills. They use indirect fire to do so. (They can also use direct fire if they have direct LOS to the target).

I guess you are probably looking at AA guns or AT guns and thinking they are "artillery".
The AA and AT guns can only use direct fire. So they need LOS to the target. They can't be used to shoot over hills.

Also note artillery isn't going to hit a target immediately behind a building. The shells don't fall vertically from the sky. They are lofted or lobbed in an arc.

A mortar has a far more vertical drop and can be useful to hit targets behind buildings etc but even a mortar has limits.

actuallly i dont use AA at all lol i just noticed some fire over hills while others dont seem to at all unless they have a more direct line of fire as a AT gun than arty. or atleast it seams that way

I've found out, the hard way, that if you have a hill between your field gun, like the 7.5 cm LeiG 18, and an approaching infantry squad on the other side, you won't be able to fire at them indirectly because they are inside of the minimum distance a shell will travel when the elevation setting is set at max.

IMO, for conquest the best german artillery is the sFH18 150mm for its max range (429.9m), accuracy and damage. AI manages to bring serious threats from nonwhere right in your dead angle. I use 3xsFH18 (Reinforcement V: 90 man power), aiming threat and F6 solves the problem. They come with hold fire set by default and this avoids friendly fire (this happens with LeFH18 105mm) and to waste ammo. Worst part is the expensive ammo.

The 7.5cm LeIG18 is an infantry gun - not an artillery piece so in game is doesn't use indirect fire. It does however loft it's round in an arc sort of like artillery.

I believe in real life the gun was capable of some pretty high elevation numbers and could have theoretically used in an indirect role. I believe it used fixed charge ammunition though.

Forgotten Weapons had a very good video of the 75mm infantry gun on YouTube.
