Why Conquest is what it is?
I can't be the only one who wonders why conquest is like this. Why it has to be almost like tower defence? I think it would be better when both - you and AI - could just send certain amount of troops to battle and fight over points. The game is great otherwise and would be awesome if conquest would play out little bit different.

I'm assuming it's due to time/bugets and limitations.

it's might be flawed in some aspects but does appear to be fairly popular.

I'm glad it's in even if its current form doesn't appeal to me.

A dev built DCG would be more my thing and I beleive a mod is on its way.

but yes, a more refined, tailored version would be groovy.

Ye. its honestly pretty boring.

Attacking is always the same and done within 5-10 Minutes.
Defending is just parkig your units and supply them with Ammo.
But there is not much movement or tactical play. You basicly just have to hold out and grind out the masses for 30 minutes

There are skirmish missions fighting over areas of the map from Talvisota DLC which sounds like what you are wanting? Like skirmish from Assault Squad 2?

The current conquest was included fairly late development i believe because it was based on the Call to Arms conquest system. Devs have plans to develop it but as a game you also have Singleplayer, Skirmish, MP with early, mid and late war. This is a lot of game modes and content, so I guess they have limited resources and have to focus on different areas. If you want something more challenging and with more variety then i recommend Conquest Enhanced mod and Conquest Enhanced Missions by MrCookie.

Do you mean something like skirmishes in a row? I'm not sure I understand what you mean by "fighting over points" which in itself also sounds a bit like Domination.

there should be flag maps like in mow. There is a mod called flags of Hell but a mod.These kind of gameplay is in my opinion much more challenging. I remember some missions in mow that takes ours to complete because the ai can conquer the flags back. Also u are limited to the vehicles u can only get with every flag.

Try the Talvisota DLC, you won't be disappointed. And it's not a mod ;)

Sounds like a mix of domination and skirmish game mode to me.

Personally I'd love to see something similar to the way the later Close Combat series or Graviteam games handles campaigns strategically.

Hes saying instead of fixed points where its always attack then defend why not have a free range RTS or TBS system where you can attack enemies wherever you want.
The problem with conquest is its structure with fixed nodes. once you switch out the nod by nod, attack defend rinse and repeat to a more open formed move around the map like total war then youll get out of the repetitive cycle conquest currently leaves us in. i have never completed one conquest due to how its literally the same thing over and over.

Also i play on hardcore and maybe lost like 10 games against AI,they are highly predictable and each mission all you have ot do is rinse and repeat your same strategy.

I think the earlier close combat series did it better than the later versions available on steam. They really gave a sense of maneuvering your units on the strategic map and facing against specific enemy regiments. I just want a chance to do encirclements on the operations map.

I want to add to this. I Like conquest, And would like to see it improved and made less static. Domination is Fun, and honestly If it was implemented as a Mode into conquest and regular conquest missions, It would be great. and add to the variety of gameplay. Just as we select Airbase, warehouse, or Research missions can add in a (domination) mission where you have HQ and have to breach enemy HQ and clear it, While getting side objectives for more (research, or ammo, money) Even the simply addition of AT cannons to enemy on attack would be massive improvement. As it would stop players from just winning with tank rush.
