Edit Save File

Is it possible to edit my save file? I overwrote my game accidentally while a mod was still activated. Now can't play on vanilla with that save. I hope to find out if it's either possible to edit out the part of the save file that was modded or just edit a new save file to match my current one's stats. Thanks!

You can remove the mod-tags pretty easily. If it works depend on what the mod changed. But the entire save file is compressed plain text, you could write it by hand from scratch.

Open the save file (Documents\My Games\gates of hell\profiles) with 7-zip. In there is a file named 'status', open that with a text editor.

At the beginning is a
{mods
}
-section. Delete whats in there, save it, done.

Thank you. I can right click the .sav and use 7zip to "Open Archive". Then edit the status file to remove the mods in notepad.
