Artillery
Have they fixed artillery yet? Does it free fire over the map or does it still require the unit's los to fire freely ?

I am a fan of artillery. I usually play the Germans and have used about all the types of artillery offered. I sometimes use Guns and other times Howitzers. Guns have a flat trajectory such as infantry guns and howitzers have an arched trajectory. I will not include mortars, or air defense (The wonderful Grille) or rockets here. I use the 7.5.cm Ie 18 (Infantry Gun) to directly attack a unit in view. It is quick to reload, but one must be careful because it changes its facing when needed and could destroy its friendly neighbor. I keep an ammo crate nearby or share it with another unit. The 10.5cm LeFH is a light howitzer that I don't normally use because it has limited range. I use the 15.cm sFH Heavy Howizter usually (2) and base them a supply truck each. They are super for prepping the battlefield for attack. It can reach most of the map, but needs to be pushed forward to reach all targets. I use the other Infantry Gun 15.cm sIG33 once in a while just for fun. It is another line of sight weapon, but it is extremely devastating. Keep it to the rear but still within LOS. The Heavy Howitzer Moerser 18 can really crush enemy locations. It seems that it was able to reach all locations on the map without moving, but that is based only on my limited experience. Again, I really enjoy the artillery and is something upon which I experiment with when designing different types of units. Keep your units out of the fire direction lanes and your powder dry!

Artillery adds dignity to what would otherwise be an ugly brawl

Once you get your Heavy Howitzers (15cm sFH and/or Moerser) in place, use F6 to target acquire a nice target location. Don't forget to cease fire before you enter the target zone. Smoke, 6th 37th FA "On the Minute."

I kinda like the battery fire from rocket 🚀 arty.

yeah i figured out that it repeats its fire over and over if you order it to target ground now, i don't remember if it did that last time i played but i might be wrong.
this is basically as good as automatic fire.
i think lighter artillery guns would benefit from this more though in defense rather than attacking, maybe buy some big guns for attacking but lighter ones for a more sustained defensive wall or area denial.

I put my howitzers away for defense and only use them offensively. I usually keep a few light infantry guns, each with a anti-tank gun nearby and a little to the rear for defense.
