Umbralist build?
Hello,

Anyone would have a good umbralist build? (and what for Katarina?)
Stats, powers and aura.

Not specially the most powerful one but something viable and fun to play?

Thank you =)

I was a big fan of abusing the Hell out of Splintering Strike during Beta. :)

You just need to make sure you have mana-on-hit and mana regen on your equipment, and when it's available, buy Katarina's mana regen skill.

Hmm, interesting ! I'll try that !

right now i'm usng splinter strike and going down the skill tree with shadow warriors, level 13 or so on fearless with no deaths, make sure you get the aura that slows with shadow marks cause it's op, will slow down the enemies a lot cause it stacks, and then my katarina has the attack speed and heal van helsing on hit skills, goodluck

So you're using Katarina's distance attack as well?

I'll try it then :)

Im loving my current build just killed the last boss in about 15 secs On Inhuman 3, after he was done flying with a 39mil crit
Tho you cant survive anything since you are just a class cannon.

Yes but I'm not here to talk about how well you perform, I'm here to talk about what build you use, your stats, your skills, Katarina stats and skills...

Do not post if you just want to show off how well you perform while keeping it a secret.

Post detail builds, talk about them, talk about what you've tried and what doesn't work... That's what this threat is supposed to be about.

Max Shadow Twirl with masterys then get mark Of Vulnerability max it and the masterys and you need something to reset the orbs if it wont kill them. Im using WraithStrike Maxed out with Masterys then try to stack Crit chance and you are good to go. you could prob go into some kind of dodge build/hp build aswell with those spells/auras and you would prob do ok, havent tried it yet since im not 100 yet stuck at lvl 75 since my char is starting to get rolled back again.
Now you will be able to kill all the bosses extremly fast, tho is using a normal Umbralist build with dps you will not be able to take 1 blow. Get an extremly fast weapon so you can get faster orb stacking.

katarina is always on passive to try to take a few dmg hits away from me with specced Spectral boon and Gift of Resistance and every thing that can make me take a few more hits.

I have a slow but safe build that utilizes blink strike with deep umbral form and 2 low cd stealth skills (ink jump? and umbral form) so I stay stealthed forever. Strike and immediately stealth, wait and repeat. Was killing it in arena until I got nuked somehow. If you have the points and mana, that shadow aoe with 90% rage power heal on extremely low cd is better than health pot.

I have the two aura's for that slows enemy when you mark them and the vulnerability one, with the 20% max health damage when 10 marks passive. I then use the ice aoe and I use the rage skill that gives enemies +3 marks. I hit spacebar to max it out 3 times, so when you hit them with the Ice aoe, they have 9 marks. I then use the shadow aura that gives 1 shadow marks per second.

With 49% crit, I have a decent chance to instantly kill anything. I then clear up the marks that didnt kil anything with the purple aoe. For survivability, I try to stay in cloaked form or run around until those 2 abilities are back up for a rinse and repeat. Slow time helps a lot, as well as the heal ability. What also helps survivability is if you max out the cloaked form and use the rage point on +1 sec on invulnerability. You can get 3 secs of invulnerability which really helps when enemies cant be frozen.

I also used to use Katarine ghost form for damage reduction but I found using her ranged attacks were much more effective. I have her build wisps and she takes 40% of the damage I receive.

I think my highest damage thus far has been over 36 mil, so boss fights are pretty satisfying when you can pretty much 1 shot them when the 20% max health proc's as a crit. Survivability is still very difficult so I've been focusing on trying to get more tanky + health. Just hit lvl 100 last night so i'll prolly start farming for some better tanky items. If i don't fgeel like leveling another char.

Yeah the %based dmg is pretty broken in the van helsing series. I haven't finished my umbralist build yet but it will also abuse the 20% dmg done after 10 stacks. I noticed this mechanic back in vh3 playing the phlogistoneer. He has also %dmg done on hit. Let's say you do 20% dmg. On an enemy with 10000 hitpoints this would be 2000 dmg. Now the broken part: That amount can still hit critically and with a modifier of 500% critdmg you just 1hit anything independant on how many hp they got.

I don't remember the name of the skills and was too lazy to look it up when i wrote this. My build has changed quite a bit once i hit lvl 100 and was able to farm some good items and purchase some Manticore Set pieces from the Pegasus.

I began to focus on all tankiness while maintaining max CC and CD, since getting a crit when the 20% max health damage on 10 shadow marks procs is what ultimately kills everything. I also began enchanting all my accessories for CDR, so i'm currently sitting at 44% cdr from getting +5% (and one +4%) cdr on all the accessories and an extra +20% from one of trophies. The CDR helps in spamming spells for quicker damage since they are originally pretty slow.

My usual combo involves turning on shadow shackles, running in shadow jolt with +3 on the powerup that gives 3 shadow marks, then clearining what wasn't instantly killed with shadow burst. Then micro away and repeat when cooldowns done. Having shadow twirl and wraith strike for single targets when the crit just won't proc helps as well.

I used to use chrono-lock, heal, and umbra form (with the +1 sec invulnerability powerup) for survivability but I'm so tanky now that I handle Inhuman Ordeal 5 just fine. I only get 1 shotted now if I run into an Igor blowing up or taking multiple hits from the big slamming enemies like ogres or w/e and if I need to heal, I use a pot and the health powerup from shadow burst. So since I'm super tanky now, I use wraith strike with my shadow twirl on single targets and I use shadow warriors to help take the target focus off me, and do work.

Anyways, when you hit level 100, i recommend trying to farm pegasus for the Manticore set pieces. They are so op and good it makes no sense to grab them. I got 3/4 pieces and i am now sitting at 63% crit (I think my new max is 67% but i need better weapon), 546% crit damage, 84% damage reduction to all damage types, 66% dodge chance, and whenever i find the 4th piece, I'll get an extra 13% cdr, 4% knockdown, and 5% angry stomp when hit. And whatever bonuses that piece comes with. (Seems the same set bonuses aren't all the same but actually stack ontop eachother, e.q. amulet gives +24% cd on set 3, boots give +1700 resistance to all on set 3)

edit: The thing annoying me right now is that my glory points reset everytime I close the game and reopen. So I haven't been able to build that up at all. As with items in stash disappearing.

Boomz, are you stratos? Sure sound like it from the build. I'm running similar build, it's pretty effective, although you don't really need the wraithstrike, that's pretty much a wasted bunch of skill points, twirl is far more than enough and don't forget you already have viper unlocked which does the samething as wraith strike (destroys the marks).

Has anyone tried Shadow Warriors yet? Do they scale with the difficulty?
