So... ring of guidance

Is there supposed to be something special for completing all tasks?

I've done everything the ring mentions, last one was facing the wraiths, after all of them were dead the leader became a horror something creature and I killed it, still nothing appears to happen, ring is still the same as before and I didnt notice any reward.

Kind of puzzled about this, seems like I did something wrong :X
Anyone had different results??

It's always best to drag the ring as close to the edge of the altar before dropping it as possible.

I know this is an old topic, but I'm sure one or two other hunters are banging their heads against the wall, so I wanted to tell what worked for me.

THIS. I was having issues with this not working as well - everything seemed to have been done. However, I noticed that in Step 3a datguy13 had dropped the ring on the ground WHILE STILL IN THE ALTAR. When I picked it up (didn't equip it though) and went back, and sure enough, the Idol of Guidance was active.

If nothing else seems to be working, try this.
