There is a new patch coming out today. The patchnotes say "Fixed an issue where the game does not start from Steam on some accounts. " Hopefuly this will fix it for you guys. It should be up pretty soon.

Apparently patch works, because i just loaded game in Windows 10 64 bit, no issues.

Well, mine still doesn't start up, even after the patch that supposedly fixed it. Also tried verifying the files, no luck. Windows 10.

Try these, one at a time:

Crash upon start on Windows 8 and Windows 10

- Exit the game.

- Start Regedit by using the Run command and type in regedit, then hit Enter.

- Find the following key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\NeoCore Games\Van Helsing Final Cut\Options

- Find the parameter MeasuredHardwarePerformance, and set it to 0.

You may also need to Verify the local files cache as well.

For black screen upon start

- Navigate to: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\The Incredible Adventures of Van helsing Final Cut\InstallUtils

- Find the two "vcredist" executables. Double-click and run them one at a time.

- Try the game.

For consistent crashing in Windows 10 try this guide by Aphixe

Nope, no luck after trying the tricks posted by datguy13.

All I get is "Running", then "Syncing", and nothing happens. Nothing even attempts to open, no black screen, no crash report... just a failure to even start up.

I can at least launch the game if I do it outside Steam, but then it doesn't sync up with Steam acheivements and requires a separate NeoCore Games login. Which is annoying to say the least, I mean I use Steam for a reason and expect a game being sold in Steam to work in Steam.

i fixed my problem after renaming the vanhelsing x86 exe into vanhelsing (without a number). dont forget to change the name of the original in vanhelsing orig. or something like that so that u can undo it and know which exe was which

Murch's fix works for me, but I lose a lot of resolution doing it.

This shouldn't be necessary. I run Win 10 Pro 64-bit and have no problems launching. Sometimes a black screen, but launches fine. What is youir setup? Detailed specs?

Ahhh, not sure there then. Some games are flaky on 'mobile' chipsets, as your 965M indicates you have. Might be related....
