Perks list [theincredibleadventuresofvanhelsing.wikia.com]
EDIT: it looks like this wiki is for the original game, many things have changed, some quite dramatically, since that game.
Any in specific that interests you?
How exactly were you manipulating essences at level 1? Easy mode lol?
Additional related: just a few days ago I was building yet another new char and didn't get the Alchemist Perk until after 60+ alchemy counts were logged, char was being lvled Adventure mode only and was ~27-30 at that time. Perk levels (not the perks gained) are reached slower in Adventure mode.
For those of you who don't have either item, or can't borrow them, your best bet is to collect as many items with Magic Find and/or Essence slots as you can for lvl 31+ (21+ if you have the Harpy Feather Epic Trophy installed in your Trophy Display cabinet) and then begin packing Essences in your equipment. Lower lvls can trigger it but M/F would need to be extremely high.
