The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing: Final Cut

The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing: Final Cut

Starting 2 Player Online Co-op
So, I've heard there are a plethora of issues, specifically with online multiplayer. I had previously purchased this game for my wife and I to play through online, but I'm a little hesitant to start it if we're going to make our way through some of it, just to find out it'll break on us.

What's the scoop? How broken can it get?

hey man,
I bought the same reason for me and my wife to play and everything worked as a charm. As soon as we wanted to join some online game with some friends we reccommended the game too, we realized there were some problems when trying to connect to friend's game.
Every time me or my wife tried to join the multiplayer game we got stuck in an endless loop of waiting and receiving the message "connecting... routing... failed...".

We tried to restart the game and even to start multiplayer sessions each one of us but still no luck. When we googled for a solution we found there are many other players with the same issue. Some of them solved the issue by allowing windows firewall, some others with the use of hamachi or any other vpn software, some others again by tweaking some router settings.

For us we tried everything and couldn't solve until, our friends "opened all ports" on his router and finally we could join his session and now we're playing with no issue :)

TLDR: from my experience, as soon as your games will be in LAN, everything is going to be ok. When trying to play multiplayer with others online be prepared to do some tweakings

just my two cents, cheers

Thank you so much for the response!

Did you guys make it all the way through the game via LAN?

Have you had any server side save issues with Online?

no problem at all with the LAN connection ;)

Just couple of times I found that I lost some some exp or an entire level exp from last time played. It happened twice that I can be sure. I did some farming in single player to get back to same level as my wife chaacter.
It always happened to mine, probably because she is always the host of game? Dont know...

In her opinion that happened because I start the game and type ESC frenetically to skip logos, and probably with ESC I skipped the connection menu to Neocore server to download the characters (when running the game at the starting menu there is a small window with login info, that's what I'm referring to).

But aside from some small exp losing, the progress of campaign was saved and functional (no broken bugs)

Awesome, I'm glad to hear it. We played last night for about three hours and didn't have any issues with the game itself, so that was nice.

I'm not quite sure what you're talking about though, exactly, in terms of the log-in. I too press 'esc' to get through all the logo screens, but it's not until the main menu that I see a page for 'logging in', in which I just hit 'Play Offline'. Were these EXP issues related to your online characters?

Yes, you got it right, only for online characters. Sorry for my misleading text

Perfect!

Thank you so much for all your help, it's been wonderful.

Did you guys complete the game via LAN yet?

If you had a few others on your friends list, couldn't you do game ranger, tungle or another program like that to simulate a lan game. Maybe that would be a work around for online multiplayer if there's issues with the main 'online' way of playing.

We finished so far the first and second act, we are into the final act, at character level 72. We got a few crashes, expecially when we progressed throught the story between first and second act, when Prisoner Seven appears. But when we restarted the game the progress was saved and we could go on

Awesome. We’ve just finished defending the Lair for the second time (second TD mission) and have already met Prisoner Seven. We’re about 12 hours in, and we haven’t had a single issue via LAN thus far. No crashes, literally one single bug that didn’t require anything other than a simple town portal to fix, etc.

It’s a shame this game as such a bad rep, as it’s easily one of the best ARPG’s I’ve ever played.
