Mutant Fish Beneficial If Resist High Enough?

I know the puddle of goo has both negative & positive permanent buffs depending on poison resistance so I figured the mutant fish should be the same but geared an alt up to 60% poison resist and still got the negative.

Anyone test this with higher poison resist able to confirm yea or nay as it wasnt bound it seems and wondering if i can bank stash it to transfer to main?

Your ghost companion tells you to NOT eat and instead to give the fish to the cat. The cat is down bellow the ramp where you catch the fish and drops random rare or epic item. You simply throw the fish from inventory near it.

Any other special item i have encountered had always minor positive effect (+10 hp or +1% of resistance or attack or crit rate).

All those side items you find like that can only be used once per character. After that it will refuse to digest them or use them.

And what puddle of goo are you referring to ?

Drop Mutant fish by cat under the dock - gets random artifact

"puddle of goo": the residue that appears in the crater after blowing up the outflow, originally giving +50 or -10/-20 Poison resist but I'm pretty sure that was modified later (Final Cut) due to whingers complaining, though -20 where endgame can be +4000 and higher, depending on a wide range of other factors/choices, would be nothing :)
