Escort mission on chapter 4?

So i just failed all 3 of those escort missions. All 3 of those darned things just keep mindlessly pushing foward into their doom. Please tell me how can i keep something that does not want to live alive. I read somewhere that if i run far ahead of them to clear the way first then they can be escorted safely but on inhuman ordeal 2 it's take a while to kill enemies so it's impossible.

the 2 guys with a pushcart should be doable (I did it on IO 1). I think their HP level accordingly.

Private Bryan on the other hand has 400 or 800 HP NOT LEVELED. That means on IO 2 he dies in a single hit even by the weakest enemies.
So either do that 1 quest on casual
OR
mod the game files for this guy (and maybe the pushcart guys as well if it is so troubling).

Thanks you for the detailed help I noticed that they will just stand there if i'm not around so first i think i'll try quickly teleporting back to base then come back to them slowly clearing any obstacles. It's just kind of strange since on chapter 1 there's a merchant that you have to escort who follow you around like a sane person but these suicidal a$$ just like "Ohh there you are cumon let me lead the way...Ohh there's lots of enemies let me just charge right past them...Ooh i'm dead you failed the quest and missed skill points lol".
