How do I actually start the hacking part of the game?

I've played this game for 4 hours now. I've met Pixie, I went to the mines, I stalked her for some reason because some guide told me to, I've gotten to the basement of the shoe store and the guy that's there told me to leave, I followed Pixie back to the club, but she had the tired animation on and it wouldn't let me start a conversation with her. I just wanna code stuff! How can I get to the coding part?

Also, I'd like to have some plot as well, so I don't want to get the modifier in Room 4 like the other guides say I can do.

You could find the guy who fixed your door. He might be able to help you, or he might know someone else who can.

Let me know if you want a save game instead. I have one that is just right after you are told you can find a hackdev, but before you go through too much of the group initiation story.

I did find out where she works, but the conversation tree with the dude in the basement of the shoe store didn't let me ask about Pixie. I've seen a playthrough where someone gets one, but they just have different options for conversation when they played, I'm guessing because they met the dude before or something. I went to the mines, but didn't get drunk there. Could that be the problem?

Ugh, the buggy plot scripting is easily the most agonizing part of this game, especially when watching others go through the reasonable motions only to get stuck.

If you're already looking up playthroughs to figure out what could have been going wrong, perhaps you could try one of these two savegames that jump you ahead to having a hacking tool?

There is a spare modifier in Devo room #4... You can unlock any door in the game from the hotel lobby computer: unlock [enter] Hotel_Corridor_Door4.

I believe by the time you find Pixie's workplace the hotel office door is unlocked, Room 4 key is in there as well. If not you could unlock either with the lobby computer, but there's also a modifier in the computer room of the Lodge.

I did stalking suspicious guys around and surprisingly got my first one beginner modifier from pretty nice gardener.
Finally did reach what behind the curtains after years!
Then I start to messing with things around, like boost the drinks and add some fake register stats for selling reports from me on Wellspring computer (not so high to evade suspicion). Then I find tracking of a drinker in every soda can, so it need more perfection of effects, so people will love to drink then buy it more...
Nah, just hack the finance computer balance and become true criminal.

If you keep exploration to a minimum you should be directed fast to Gunnar (The creator of the hackdevs) and buy one of his older scrapped designs. If you did the radio job, you should have just enough money to buy it.
