I enjoyed this game a lot. Some aspects were rough around the edges, but overall it was very good. Right until the very end. It has been a long time since I've been disappointed so much by a game ending.

So at the very end you literally get to "hack the MainFrame" and get almost god-like powers. I even made it so that the main villain is repeatedly zapped and "corrupted". Didn't stop her from killing me. There is literally no good ending to this story. You either die or the resistance has failed to stop the villain. The whole journey ends up being pointless.
The programming (and hacking) aspect is actually rather interesting and enjoyable. The problem is it might take you a while to get to it and you will most likely feel utterly lost for couple of hours. The first time I played I had to read the spoiler-free guide and restart the game after like an hour of being lost.
Another unique point of this game is that it doesn't hold your hand like most modern games. This might not be for everyone, but if you like the classics where you're not constantly reminded by 3 pieces of UI where you're supposed to go next then you will probably enjoy this aspect. You actually have to immerse yourself in the game and even take notes. I had a text editor opened for more than half of the game to manually track my "quests" and make other notes. The game is very real-time though, so I had to press Esc several times just to pause the game so I could take notes from the dialog.
Overall maybe get it on sale or something and set yourself up for a very disappointing ending but rather unique and interesting, although sometimes annoying, journey there.
