This is what I came here to find out, too. The whole store page is spent selling the co-op/multiplayer aspect, but then mentions you can also play single player. I'm not feeling very confident buying this to play solo right now.

Hello, yes you may play solo right now (controller or keyboard). :)

Looks like there are 4 players in the meetup room.

Up to 4 indeed.

Co-Op is the best way to play this game, for sure. We've been trying to make the single player interesting and adjusting its balance so it doesn't feel harder nor more punishing than the multiplayer version, but we still suggest playing the game with others. If you don't have anyone to play locally with you, I suggest you stay tuned to our streams or our Discord Community [http//discord.+gg] because we've been working on the online multiplayer and other updates that should allow solo players to have a better experience.

We would love to hear your opinions on what you think is wrong with the single player there, too!

Singleplayer works quiet good. (in my opinion.)

I'm sure you were trying to help, but the Single-Player tag on Steam doesn't necessarily mean a game can be played solo. It could mean anything from, "you can start the game solo and we'll match you with other players," to "some, but not all, game content can be played solo," to "solo play is possible, but not really supported," or finally, "this game is entirely soloable." That's why we still have to ask if a game can be played solo.

you can play solo, but the game snowballs fast if you mess something up on the medium or large ship.

once you unlock some of the better items, solo is a bit easier. i still wouldn't bother with a large ship, though. better to bring a couple friends for that

I've had a lot of fun playing the game solo. I've also played it coop.

I also played a large ship solo. It .. takes a long time. I wouldn't play medium or large without the sink unlocked. (You need to use the bucket to clear a room. The bucket needs water. Water comes either from the starting location, or from sink items; without the sink you have to go back to the start each time to fill your bucket).

IMO the most annoying part of playing solo is the air vents, especially if it's in a room early on. It means you either need to keep an eye on it, (the camera doesn't show the whole ship), or be willing to go back and re-do rooms (which isn't how I wanna play the game)
(Air vents make a room dirty; so aliens might spawn there after you've already cleaned/cleared it).
