Connection Problems (Auto Disconnect)/Connection timeout

I have gone on Garry's Mod servers for a long time, and now just recently whenever i try to join any server, it takes ages, and then just tells me that there was a timeout. After I try to join the server for the second time, it joins the server properly, and after about 1 second, it says in the top right corner "Connection Problems - Auto Disconnect in X Seconds" i have reinstalled Garry's Mod and i have also verified my files, and this has not fixed my problem. I have seen this problem with other people, and my internet is very stable, so I don't believe that it could be my internet, and my computer is and has always worked for GMod. I would like some help so i can join a server!

To any one coming on to this trying to fix their Gmod, (Like I just did yesterday) as a last resort you can try removing all your addons (or at least thinning them out to about 50 or so), but if you really love your addons only do this as a last resort because of the off chance it won't work. gl

I have the exact same problem. I try to join a server, It takes forever, I time out. I retry, takes a little bit less, I get a connection problem. I have tried everything. I have Restarted Garry's Mod, I have restarted Steam, I have restarted My computer, I have reinstalled all my addons, I have validated the game files, I have cleaned my Garry's Mod directory from junk and whatnot. The only thing that I haven't done is reinstall my Garry's Mod. Something that was a HUGE pain to go through one time I did it. If anyone has a solution, PLEASE post it here or add me on Steam.

Same I have been having this problem as well. Although I've been able to join a server every other day like I am unable to join the server and a day later I join and after a few attempts I actually connect to the server. I am now at the point where I think it just lets me connect whenever it feels like it and this always happens at the worst times for me whenever a friend of mine is on a server I wanna join. So if somebody has actually solved this problem on another discussion or something like that.

Ask yourself; did I edit anything in my firewall, was I able to join this server before, did I do a windows update, did my antivirus change/update, did I recently change internet provider?

Or was it

One random day I got on; I didn't download or change anything since last time and now I can't join a server(s)

Don't use wifi if possible.
If you have to use wifi, make sure the signal strength is high. As said before wifi has a lot of little timeouts.
Don't use higher rates, that your current framerate.

The Lerp is higher of course, but i think 45.4ms is still ok. If everything works fine, the interp_ratio can be reduced (like 1.5 or 1.8).

Alright i was able to get onto a server yesterday and i might have a solution, at the time i joined said server around 3-4 people were on it, so im going to join that same server again to see if i can replicate yesterdays results.

Alright it seems to have worked again for me so this could be one solution to go on the server when the number of people is in the single digits.

Ask the server owner to ask his server host that people arent able to connect. This is sometimes server side and if your lucky, the server owner will be using NFO and will be able to troubleshoot. This problem happens often more on websites but game servers too. Other than that you can try and turn off firewall and try and join a server with it off. Or you can fiddle with gmod programs firewall.

Also when the guy said "don't use wifi" he means try and use a Ethernet cable.
