The people who says steam checks the content has no idea as to the process behind it. Do they source it to a company? McAfee, Symantec? If so the "protection" is only as good as that company. If I had another program ring up as 12/54 on virustotal I wouldnt run it. Granted this is GMOD its legit software, but who is to say someone at the offices didnt install something as a joke? A disgruntled employee? People like to instantly assume that because its on steam and from a safe company that means there is 0% risk. Its bad PR and its bad coding for a false positive to ring up.

I don't know about any steam game containing any actual virus. How Valve checks these games for viruses, i'm not sure. Really curious about that.

Gen.Variant.Kazy overwrites critical Windows files with itself or replaces other Trojan files on them which is terrible to the corrupted PC system. Gen.Variant.Kazy hides deep in the system background and its files in System Restore are protected to prevent any applications changing those files, so it is not easy to eliminate it. Remove Gen.Variant.Kazy as quickly as possible after detection.

Where has it said why the scanner is triggered? "You will have to wait for your free anti virus to update and fix the false positive." This is not a valid reason.

Its not, but my anti-virus stopped on picking up hl2.exe, so I guess it was false.

99% chance it was false I really had no doubt it wasnt. Regardless its bad PR and bad coding for any update to have a popular AV say its infected.

So you're one to know a lot more then me, is that it? because I have stated the facts and you yet say I don't know, then you must not know that it is valve's job to keep their upcoming titles clean of such infection, otherwise anyone who gets greenlit can release a title that is filled with viruses and infect upon millions. you really think valve is gonna let that happen? no, they won't, because Valve as a company will lose a ton of reputation over it if it were to happen.
