Not Hearing Glados' Voice!
Hey,

So I just decided to play Portal for the first time in ages, and for some reason I can't hear Glados. I can hear all the other robot voices and sound effects just fine, but Glados is mute. If I pute in subtitles I can see her lines on the screen, but that's it. I tried switching to a different language, and I was able to hear her in Spanish and French, but when I put it back to English she went mute again. I even uninstalled, reinstalled, and deleted my old save files. I did the varify cache thing, defragmenting, and restarted Steam itself. I start a new game, and she STILL won't say a word.

Can anyone help with this?


Edit: Apparently i'm not the only one with this issue. Hopefully it gets fixed or a solution is given soon.

had that problem fixed it by going into the portal properties going to the beta tab and pick steam pipe, then a download began, after it was done voices were back

@survs THANK YOU! This fixed it and Glados sounds like her old self. Thanks again. Anyone who is having a similar issue should do what survs did.

Yes, that helped with the voices... But unfortunately theres another problem now. Since I have troubles with that achievement Lab Rat, which should unlock when you acquire orange part of the portal device, I m re-attempting it God knows how many times now. So, that hovering platform in that chamber stops moving after reaching the wall, and after with some miracle I manage to reach end of the chamber exit doors wont open. Ridiculous.

I tried to change my version to the beta steam pipe thing. But now the game lags all the time... GLaDOS' voice is back, though. But still... It's not as fluent as it was before...

How do you do that? My GLaDOS voice is gone, completely lost about what you're talking about.
