Some unanswered questions. See if you can answer them? (spoilers)
So first things first, I have played Portal and Portal 2 and have done my research on the plot and characters, and I know quite a lot, but I still have 2 unanswered questions. #1: Rat Man is alive during portal and makes all those murals, dens, and clues for Chell to find throughout Portal and Portal 2. According to the comic, "Rat Man" goes back into the lab to save Chell. He falls asleep and thats the end of the comic that bridged the gap between the games. So my Question is is "Rat Man" still alive. He can be heard rambling in Portal 2 in some locations. If he is still alive, why didnt we see him later in the game? #2: Is the cake actually a lie? I know that GLADOS tried to lure Chell back with cake, but we all know that she was going to kill Chell. It seems like "Rat Man's" writings were right about the cake being a lie, until the very end of the game there is a scene with a cake and a claw putting out the candle. :p2turret:

1) He's dead anyway, because P2 takes place many (at least 100) years after. Don't know where you heard him.
2) She promised cake at the end of 19th chamber, and where is it?:happymeat:

How does portal two take place over 100 years after portal one?
So the start of P2 was Chell coming out of some long-term stasis stuff?

im guessing that her sleep was not just a regular sleep otherwise she would be really old and frail.

yeah, something like that. That's the point of Rat man rescuing her - he supplies her chamber with power at the end of the comic, doesn't he?

Firstly, you can find the cake if you turn noclip on in Portal.
Secondly, it was more 100,000 years, I think. I saw a video on it on that top ten memes channel.
Thirdly, her sleep was in a room whereas she would be preserved. - Like some sort of cryogenic chamber.
Fourthly, I'm figuring that the Ratt Man (or whatever) may have died in the comics, at least we think, but it doesn't mean that GLaDOS can't connect those rooms to the main facility. But why she did it I don't know.
Also, GLaDOS is some mega epic computer thing, my didn't she just kill Chell, and why did she put Chell through tests again?
Those are my questions, now answer them please. I answered and corrected you people.
Good day!

If you remember in Portal 2 when Wheatly is controlling everything, he had that itch. He AND GLaDOS need Chell doing tests. BUT Wheatly found two robots that could do the tests instead of Chell. That is why Wheatly tried to kill Chell in Portal 2 and GLaDOS ultimately got rid of Chell.

Ratman is dead, and not because of the time passage. He killed himself by portal'ing to the moon. Seriously.

what? where did you hear that?

If you go to the spot where you first find the portal gun, look up. There are Ratman drawings of the phases of the moon surrounding a hole in the ceiling that appears to go all the way to the surface. We can assume that the moon can be viewed through this hole at night In the Lab Rat comic, Ratman briefly mentions his fascination with the moon. During the events of the Portal stuff, Ratman is unmedicated (he's a paranoid schizophrenic). Several of Ratman's lairs have images of moons. There is a hidden image in the game that shows a companion cube on the moon.

As far as I can tell, after he did the whole saving Chell bit, he recovered from the turret shots a bit in his capsule, realized there was no hope of escaping again since GLaDOS had been reactivated, and decided to finally fulfill his dream of going to the moon. He recovered the portal gun after the explosion that killed GLaDOS and blew Chell to the outside. He goes to the room where you first find the portal gun, paints his shrines to Chell, pops a portal on the moon, and dives through. The companion cube on the moon is his.

BUT apparently in Chapter 3 test chamber 17 Rat Man can be heard mumbling. It is true. Check the wiki.

Yup, it sure can. It's been awhile, but if I recall, that sound file is called "Ghost of Ratman" in the file directory.

If that's the case, the portal gun shouldn't be there because it would have been sucked into space. And he made those paintings during or before the Lab Rat comic.

There is not proof that he survived that shot in the leg; those mumbligs are part of the soundtrack, it is a song called "Ghost of Rattman" and shouldn't be taken as anything else.

He may have made that portal on the moon, but he could have done it at a safe distance. Therefore, he could leave the portal gun on the shrine.
