Sourcemod not appearing in library
I recently downloaded and extracted a Portal mod, placed it in the sourcemod folder, and restarted but it does not appear in my library, any suggestions?

Are you sure that you don't drop a folder that contains a folder that contains a folder that contains a zip archive that contains a folder that contains a click2downloadmodz.exe that contains a folder or something?
I mean, does the folder you drop into sourcemods folder contain gameinfo.txt? Can you copy it here?

Are you sure that it's in C:\Program Files(x86)\Steam\steamapps\sourcemods (or whereever your Steam installation is)?
Are you sure that both Portal and the sourcemods folder are located on the same disk drive?
Are you sure the mod does not need something like "Source SDK Base 2013" that is downloadable from the "Instruments" tab in the library?

The mod I'm trying to use is Portal: Still Alive.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

Hmm... Downloading the mod myself, going to take a closer look at it... (why I didn't download this one before?.... ._.)

Hmm, instantly worked for me, and I'm running out of ideas of why it might not work...
Do you have Portal installed?
Are you sure you did a 100% restart of Steam?

Yep, that was the issue, the game was within a folder, it was kind of like this:
Portal-StillAlive-Release (the folder) > Portal-StillAlive (the folder that contained the mod)
I just copy Portal-StillAlive folder (readme and steamgridicon included) and pasted into sourcemods, restarted Steam and voila it appeared, I wouldn't have been able to solve if it weren't for you, thanks mate!

Woah. No problem! lol

Well, I have the same problem.
"Portal-StillAlive" folder is in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\sourcemods (so gameinfo.txt is located in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\sourcemods\Portal-StillAlive).
I don't have additional Steam folders on external drives.
I even installed Half-Life 2 with Episodes and everything Source SDK related in Steam.
And yes, I restarted Steam process numerous times.
No dice, mod still not appearing in my Library.
I don't even sure which log file should i examine to troubleshoot this.

I don't know about this case.
Maybe you have multiple Steam installations, and you drop the mod in one while using the other?

Try this: Press with right mouse button on Half-Life 2>Properties>"LOCAL FILES">"BROWSE LOCAL FILES..."
It will open a folder that should end with "Steam\steamapps\common\Half-Life 2"
Then, just go 2 levels up, to that \steamapps folder, create a new folder "sourcemods" there if it isn't already, drop "Portal-StillAlive" folder in there, yadda yadda...

No, i have a single Steam installation, and browsing local files opens C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\... (whatever game).

Hmm, I honestly don't know.
Do you have Portal bought/installed?
[HYBRID BEING] Aug 27, 2018 @ 6:57pm
Of course, was just hunting for achievements recently. The only thing i did was installed Flash Version Mappack (from ModDB, cause i didn't knew mod already has it), but i verified Portal installation and there were no problems with it.
PS: oh my god, i'm a complete moron, i was looking through my recent games - it obviously didn't have Portal: Still Alive as i never launched it before. That's what you get for thinking you got basics covered //_\\

Oh. Well, glad that this got sorted out.

Don't worry, everyone is a moron at one point. Even me lol

(p.s. if it sounds like I'm the author of this mod or something, no I'm not, I just happen to know well how all this Source engine stuff works)
