Do I need to keep my fire breath instead of sacrificing it entirely, or will I be able to get it just fine even if I do?

Also, what's the maximum of each attribute?

Yes, besides the one time you need to use it to get through the gate, you need to keep your fire breath.
There are 19 hearts, 5 flight, and five fire breath.
(this is to anyone having the same question).
