I don't know how much total money has been collected by everyone, but I do have one character that has surpassed the hidden cap at least twice.

Normally, the game will only show your money up to $99,999,999. Internally it goes much higher than that. You can hold a Predatory Lending SMG in your hand, and it will show how much money you actually have. IIRC the real cap is $2.148 billion (max positive signed 32-bit integer). When you go past this, your money gets reset to zero. Thankfully it just resets instead of wrapping around to negative values, otherwise it would take a lot of farming to be able to spend money again.

That same character also has over 100k eridium. Let's just say I've done an unhealthy amount of boss farming.
