Yes there is difference in loot - you can choose if you want the gun with 15% more accuracy or 10% more damage... you know - having a choice.
If you think there is only a single-digit percentage difference - are you a game-"journalist" and got stuck in the tutorial?
There is a lot that can be said about the bad story, the problems with the quests, the many bugs - but you have chose to complain about the core aspects of the game. What is next - complaining that there are multiple colours to choose for your car in a racing game?
Not a lot of hours in most in-depth games. I guess Borderlands just doesn't fit the Cookie Clicker (or other clicker/idle games) itch very well.
Perhaps mobile games are more your speed?
