heck even anthony who write b2+tftb+b1.5 got rehired to help in writing ntftb (which had a lot of newly hired writers), yet look at the unimpressive reception for ntftb especially by fans of tftb.
even the spinoff novel borderlands debt or alive written by anthony himself (and also helped by some other writers including ntftb writers...) where the story is centered around gaige, fiona and sasha would really disappoint fans off those 3 characters.
don't wanna spoil it too much but suffice to say that in that debt or alive novel gaige got so much bad tragedies happening to her yet most of her b2 mechromancer skills including dt's skills are so underwhelmingly nerfed in there compared to the many awesome combat skills both gaige and dt can easily do in b2 at high levels. she also didn't get help from any other b1+b2 vault hunters+crimson raiders npcs... wtf...
and both fiona and sasha make lots of dumb decisions that could have been easily avoided if they choose to take slower and careful approach doing more research into their targets rather than taking quick risky shortcuts like amateur con artists+detectives trying to make deals with villain characters that will obviously exploit and betray them quickly... they also didn't use the many connections with 'friends and allies' they made through tftb since the beginning of the story (especially with rhys, vaughn and athena who are basically their besties...)
sadly I'll have to say that fans of gaige, fiona, sasha and other b2+tftb+b1.5 characters will get heartbroken+disappointed when they read the debt or alive novel...
anthony's skill as borderlands writer has deteriorated so much compared to his much better b2+tftb+b1.5 days...
the only positive stuff that could be said imo for the debt or alive novel is the world building for eden-5 which is gaige's home planet, and some insight into gaige, fiona, sasha and felix's pasts...
i dunno if anthony would be helping to write b4, but even if he is... its most likely that b4 story will keep repeating the many patterns of b3 since sam winkler seems to be the narrative lead again...
but whatever. i'm done with the series' canon directions since b3. its better to make our own fan headcanons. just like what claptrap had done in b1.5 claptastic voyage when he make up his own story of helping tkbaha+marian+felicity avoid their canon deaths.
Was gonna give you an award until I read "radical leftists". Smh
<sighs> No, that's actually NOT what's going on. What's going on are that the right and the left are listening to two completely different media environments that tell (at least) two different stories. Stories that don't line up. What you appear to believe about "the left" is heavily influenced by your sources.
I strongly suggest broadening your horizons with regard to how you get your news and information.
On Topic: Sam Winkler is listed as the lead writer. He was indeed one of the BL3 writers. I believe that I read somewhere that Connor Thomas Cleary was also returning, but I haven't been able to locate that article again.
Further: Remember, Borderlands 3 was a financial success selling in excess of 20 million copies. It's the second most successful title in the franchise.
And Nakos, good post.
The majority of gamers want good characters a good story and good gameplay not to be lectured about petty "real" world politics. Activists that are making political simulators are a obnoxious sad minority of individuals that would rather lecture their customers on their radical beliefs instead of actually making a good game and THAT is why no one will buy their games.
