there are plenty of gun/build guides on youtube to maximize gun damage, you can experiment yourself, but all of the strongest ones have probably been found by this point
maybe i built my character wrong(?) i dunno. (unless they are lying and that footage is taken from a lower mayhem level. . or the fact that the vids are from 1-2 years ago and maybe the game was different back them?)
i don't get it with the contrast, watching someone play and they are just like moving from target to target , bam dead, bam dead, bamba, dead,ratatat dead

edit : i'm using iron bear moze to farm gear, she can kill stuff in 2 seconds with ironbear, but moze herself can't do crap, neither can flak at mayhem 10-11, i had to turn it down to 4 and gave flak mayhem 10 weapons for itmto feel balanced
from my experience, level 72 mayhem 10 weapons should have between 20k(kaoson)-90k(free radical) average on their damage stats.
and anything less than 50k feels way underpowered

Pet build with War Loader built around Gamma Burst and the right shield is very strong - MUCH stronger than my Hunter Big Game Hunter Skill focused build was, which is what I spent the most time playing.
the one where enemies randomly get a heal drone is not so bad and the one that connects enemies together with an elemental beam is not so bad either.
but doesn't matter, 10-11 is the same enemy hp. i don't understand what i do wrong, because i can't kill the enemies with any of these guns.
only iron bear is any use.
and then i watch a video of "the 10 best weapons" and the guy in the video is just casually moving through the footage going point, click, dead, point click dead, gushing about how OP such and such a weapon is and then i try it can't kill anything.
and it looks like the enemies are just standing there letting him do it. like he just turns to an enemy guns them down, then turns to the next enemy , guns them down.
meawhile, when i play, the enemies are constantly moving, dodging rolling, running away from me, sliding into cover, while shooting constantly, aimbotting me while agent smithing my bullets, i'll be serpentining and jumping and still getting hit. and the enemies never seem to need to reload. and i take cover and there's constant suppressing fire all around me and as soon as i poke my head out and try to line up a shot i'm getting hit and then i duck back into cover and i know i'm in cover and yet i'm still getting hit and it's like how TF are they doing that? are they just standing back and getting me with Emotional Damage?
All I can say is that as FL4K, pet health and damage scale with MH level and do far better than FL4K does because his don't scale. I have no experience with any other VH nor any other builds but Hunter (and Hunter Skill focused with Big Game) and Gamma Burst Pet (both of which I made myself, not copying someone else).
Given the bugginess of the game in general, I wouldn't surprised if you have skills you think are working which aren't. For example, I saw just yesterday Psycho Head on a Stick doesn't work at all with the Loader mechs and the explode-on-death skill in purple tree (forget the name) doesn't work on anything EXCEPT the mechs. Neither are listed like this in game.
EDIT: I also think MH10/11 are balanced around Guardian Rank being maxed out or close. You might also take a second look at your gear, especially your shield/class/artifact mods. Some have built-in drawbacks that you may have forgotten about. I like the Loaded Dice but I know it's nerfing BOTH my HP AND my Pet's by 75%.
my complaint wasn't about the game in general, just specifically mayhem 10-11 the enemy hp is just way too inflated, or maybe it isn't(?), i know my moze is built around iron bear right now because i figured if iron bear was the only thing working i would just go all in on iron bear.
i did see some other vids and they seem to always take the anoint that says "+1% damage stacking for each consecutive shot" so maybe that's hiw they are doing it(?).
as for the OP. i was just in here to find out what OP means saying their weapons are "missing an entire digit" compared to their friend's weapons.
not sure what that means, is OP sayjng their friend has 20k on a weapon and OP has only 2k on that same weapon?
every gun stat/effect/element/annoint, every shield effect, every artifact effect, every grenade effect, every individual skill tree point allocation (and which ones are active and/or accumulative), the specific mayhem 10 modifier combo (e.g. holy crit boosts head shot damage by 25%), every single modifier counts, and then even after reaching max level, guardian rank can go up to 850 which grants all sorts of additional bonuses, and of course which elements you're using against specific types of enemies
Annoits that add damage make a massive difference.
100% extra damage is doubling your damage.
picking the right one for you depends on character and build.
Moze with some of the shield perks can lower her health and make use of
Radiation damage while under 50% health' AKA Urad
Moze with ammo regen can make solid use of 100% elemental damage on next 2 magazines.
All weapons are not created equal, some have very large damage differences.
Shields like the 'Rectifier'? with the annoit on action skill use or end add so much damage its like cheating. * think that is the right name it adds a ton of electric damage and some fire rate.
