Should i get to level 72 before doing DLC?

I’m currently on level 38 and about to do the last chapter. I heard doing the DLCs at max level is better so you can get better items etc. What is way for me to get to level 72 faster before doing so? I already did so many of the side missions. Should i do trials and farm? Any input would be great, thanks!

I like to be at max levels before doing the DLCs as some weapons and artifacts only drop once per play through and are quite desirable. The Slaughter Shaft is my preferred way to level up after story completion its the fastest way to level with out starting a DLC in my opinion.

I would wait until you finish the main story, turn on mayhem. And as Lomanian stated slaughter shaft is great for leveling up.

This is how I quickly level up my characters. I first finish the story then turn Mayhem Mode on and up to 10 save and quit to reset Sanctuary to new Mayhem Mode. Tip Moxxi until you have 3 Crits and a couple of Hails . I then reset Mayhem Mode to level 4 choosing one of the modifiers to be the big head for better critical hits. The Crit's you got from Moxxi give 150% critical hit damage and 8% life steal from all damage done. You should be able to make it through the 5 rounds of the Slaughter Shaft and gain between 5 and 7 levels per run. Rinse and repeat. Using the XP Boost from the Borderlands Science machine or a Moxxi's Endowment artifact will only speed your progress.
