Cannot equip class mod

The class mod I would like to equip is of my level and for my class. I have completed the necessary steps to be able to equip them. However, I simply can't. I am a brand new Borderlands player but I understand the power of these class mods. Any help or information would be such great help! Thank you guys so much!

Are you really far enough in the story to unlock the slot, the slot should be empty, not locked? Then just double check if the lv and character is right.

do you have all DLCs? because you cant equip DLC items unless you have paid for all the DLC

Fair point, I even forgot that his can be an issue
