Stuttering every 60 seconds on the clock
So i had this issue with the game for a long time where it would stutter every 60 sec exactly, not the random stutter caused by the shader compilation. Some would say its caused by Windows background slideshow set to 1 min but that its not it the case, it only happens in BL3 and the stutter actually reset each time I change zones (like if it happened at 17:01:23, then 17:02:23 etc... in one area after i move to a different one it would happen at 17:05:45, 17:06:45, 17:07:45 etc.... still at one minute intervals but it seems loading zones reset it).
I have watched the various cpu usage of the cores and each time this stutter happens it would corrispond to a cpu spike, but it seems to be caused by the borderlands3.exe itself.
Things i tried:

-using DDU to test various driver versions
-clean windows install
-process lasso to set to high priority and untick core 0 affinity
-dx11 and dx12 / all ingame options
-variorus nvidia driver settings
-disable CFG
-steam -notexturestreaming
-putting an fps cap (even capping at 30 fps I could still see the frametime graph spiking even though the fps was rock solid at 30 fps, tried even lower could still see spikes)

I would be glad if someone would test if they have the same issue, you just need MSI afterburner and enable the frametime graph to monitor any spike and then just stand still in game. Stand still for a couple of minute and see if there are spikes in the graph at intervals of 1 min.

My specs:

-GTX 1660
-i7 9750h
-16 DDR4 ram
-installed on SSD (nmve)

Edit: even when the game is paused or I'm in a menu the stutter still occours every 1 min.

Turn off your live scanning virus scanner / firewall?

Good call tried disabling windows defender and its firewall but it still stuttters. Also to clarify being in a menu or pausing the game still cause the stutter to happen.

Me too

I think it's just the game itself

I have 120 fps average on the benchmark with a 6600xt and a ryzen 5 5700g but I noticed some small stutters

it's related to shaders compiling most likely

Is it every 60 secs for you too?

It does seem like an issue caused by a third party program if it is always exactly 1 minute.

A quick google took me a thread with someone else mentioning that msi afterburner itself can cause stuttering to some games including borderlands 3, have you tried playing the game with it uninstalled?

I uninstalled both rivatuner and msi afterbuner, so i installed capframex to make sure the frametime spikes were gone, but they are still there always 60 sec apart from one another.
This is the only game i own that has this kind of periodical stutter also i dunno if its a third party program problem because like i said the stutter cycle does reset if I change zones in game, if it were another program i think the stutters would always be 60 secs apart even when loading new areas. Also i tried a clean boot and still stutter.

Well to be fair, capframex also uses rivatuner to measure frames, same as afterburner, so if this tool was the issue you are still using it.

Is it something noticeable in the game itself or is it just the frametime graph that bothers you? Honestly I'm not sure, it could be a quirk of the game, but it could also be a rivatuner quirk if the problem stops when not measuring it.

Capframex uses rivatuner to display the overlays so i haven't installed it back. What i did was capturing a trace which doesnt require rivatuner for 2 min and when i went and looked at the analisys tab there were two spikes exactly 1 min apart. Just to be safe i also did try with everything uninstalled and, checking with the timer on my phone, I have confirmed the stutters still remain.

Its not a game breaking stutter but really really annoying considering its not like it happens every 10 min but in such a short interval

That does not fix it for me; still stutters.

Anyone figure this out? I have nontexturestreaming enabled and my fps is basically locked at 120 but literally every 60 seconds it dips to 117 and you can feel it. I do not have msi after burner, I do have Rivatuner but it’s not running, I’m currently using the in game fps counter

I’m going to try running the game offline and see, that would be my only guess as to why it’s doing that. Maybe it’s checking servers or something every 60 seconds. I remember borderlands 2 having a stuttering issue as well that was fixed by blocking the connection to the servers, though I don’t recall if it was as specific as every 60 seconds

So did playing it offline work or not for you? For me disabling my conncection did not solve the problem
Me either, I have no idea what it would be. Thought maybe an anti piracy check or something but I’m not sure how that would work when there is no connection
Do you have a Roccat mouse or keyboard? I remember having similar issues with another game. Turned out the roccat software for my keyboard was the cause.

It's the game, and maybe in part UE4, they never fixed that problem, I had the same problem with a 2060 2 years ago, I changed to a 3060ti and the same problem continued.

Now that I have a 4060ti the same thing is still happening, the most stable option is to have it in DX12.
