They are catering to 1% of the population and losing money because of it. Nice try though
Nothing says the vault hunters, or any other character, have to be gay or not. As long as that just a part of their character and not the defining point so doesn't come off as checking a box or pushing it.
The series needs a change yes, by hiring good writers and having management not interfer with their writing,
not by scrubbing out what little we have left of the original stuff so people who make it their personality to be offended by the existence of others do not get triggered.
DLC 2 was great. My main gripe was they didn't do right by Gaige. As for the big cinematic for the conclusion, for the action and humor of Borderlands it seemed a bit out of place. And I would say that for any romantic pairings with possibly one exception. Claptrap going in for a kiss or such and getting electrocuted seems like that would fit the gameworld overall with the humor. Point is action and/or humor to end a DLC seems right, but sweet romance as the big finale cinematic didn't flow well (at least for me) for Borderlands. But absolutely respect it and they do seem cute together, even though sometimes they are so jarringly different you wonder how they managed to hit it off when they met.
The DLCs brought the quality up and were more true to game and story quality and writing, even acknowledging DLC 2's controversial plot point. It is the main game that was the problem where it devalued staple characters who didn't fit "required representation" (for lack of a better term) in order to make the others look better instead of improving on their own merits. DLC 2 for the most part respected all groups.
I'm just a bit salty that Gaige lost quite a bit of her spark and her backstory, a big one a feel, is still left unexplored.
Its is a shame the story and characters of this game are written so that there are almost no male hetro heros.
Almost all the male hetro characters seem to be morally weak or lacking.
Why are only the female and gay-male characters have any morale fibre and goodness ?
