Do you mean the 2010's version of "Woke" meaning "broader awareness of social inequalities such as racial injustice, sexism, and denial of LGBT rights."
Personally, I hope the entire game has all versions of "Woke" in it just to piss off the bigots. Plus, anyone who played all the Borderlands knows it has been this way from the beginning. So, if it's just now bothering you, this might not be the game for you.
In the end, are we creating the next video game in a series or pushing an agenda instead? Time and place, choose your venue, etc.
So "woke" these days has pushed from the original meaning to referencing those going overboard, either (metaphorically) carrying pitchforks and torches or demanding stories be changed to put their preferred representation in regardless of other consequences.
This is why I say create a new game series that is built on all that from the start as opposed to tearing apart an existing one just to fit an agenda or quota.
BL4 being good or bad could swing either way. I just hope it isn't "good enough" so they aren't stringing the player base along hoping for the big improvement in a BL5. Whatever info they release in the next year is going to set the tone of BL4's launch. So they better take this seriously.
YOu know .. the #1 video game country in the world is South Korea and they also have a myopia rate over 50% and their young people have myopia over 75%. South Korea has great Starcraft players though! ! ! LOL.
The industry is scum and it promotes unhealthy living habits. Quit pretending otherwise.
they promote whatever the random agenda of the times are to distract from their misdeeds and criminal behaviour. wake up man... wake up.
Video Game Megacorp hiring a new employee:"Here you go... for money we will give you half of what you're worth... and here is a gay pride flag... wave that around... you're amazing"
The top execs are laughing their asses off all the way to the bank while the employees go blind staring into screens 75 hours a week as they wave a gay pride flag. High Myopia amongst video game employees is over 30$.
I guess you are blind to this because you two have high myopia.
I don't like having someone else's values forced in my face. I don't force my values on others, and I would appreciate the same consideration.
I don't care what people do in the privacy of their own homes or bedrooms. That is their business. I had no problems withi Wainwright/Hammerlock for instance - those are choices that they made (as written in the script) and not situations where they were forcing my character into that mold or forcing my character to join that behavior.
I DO care about situations that would force my charactor to do something that I disagree with. For example -- I don't swing the other way, but forcing whatever character I have in the game to bat for the same team in order to achieve a game goal or objective is not something I would agree with.
I don't care about the racial features of the main playable character, but I do like having the ability to choose my race/color. That allows anyone who has that sort of preference the ability to choose.
I do care about the sexuality of my character - for instance, I typically do not play female characters -- it breaks immersion for me. Borderlands is one of those games that is gender-locked, which means I miss out on about 50% of the game more or less. I am sort of surprised that nobody has brought that up. Maybe BL4 will not be genderlocked.
As for gender why should that effect you playing them. Outside of emotes its a first person game and how is playing the opposite sex immersion breaking when the game isn't the immersive to begin with?
they'll never do that because they know no one will buy their garbage. The only way they will ever get any amount of attention is by latching onto popular IPs to spread their garbage until they burn them to the ground
Borderlands hasn't been a game series to build your character like a full RPG. They include 4 or more pre-written Vault Hunters. They are specific characters with their own story, not something for you to build the own backstory of. This is a core component of the series and expected to continue.
Comes down to either you choose the character that you like the best or find another game. You customize your skills, not your story, gender, orientation or anything else. Many video game series are like this.
