Start on Mayhem 1?

So I beat the campaign, not really too keen to restart the story doing TRVH at least not right now. I did save all my side missions though plus all the DLC content. I've played a little bit of side missions on Mayhem 2 and I'm level 42 now. Mayhem 2 is doable for me but gets a little spotty.

Just curious do people tend to jump straight to the highest mayhem level they can tolerate and just go from there? Or is there some min-max way people have figured to build up and tackle them. I mean I guess if you're not dying left and right the highest level you can do is probably the way to go?

The only difference between NVHM and TVHM is the extra annointed and badass enemies that spawn in TVHM. If you are not interested in another playthrough, just turn Mayhem mode on while in NVHM and have fun.

I like to start slowly in Mayhem 1 or 2 and increase difficulty when I become too powerful or get strong weapons.

You can use the Eridian Fabricator, to get some Mayhem 10 guns and use on M10 or use in lower Mayhem levels, so you don't need to farm often.. Did this twice and seems the less annoying way o reach LV 72 and having enough firepower and fun, to do the side missions..

building off of this, this also applies to weapons you get from diamond vault room or the golden chest, even the gun shops from Marcus machines. just gotta turn on mayhem 10 before you use any of these in Sanctuary, or anywhere in a safe spot.

If you want a personal recommendation, I’d say level 4. To me it’s not the easiest but it’s not the hardest. There’s only two modifiers and loot quality isn’t bad either. Although I’d wait until you’re a high enough level, say about 55+ or higher. Up to you, though.

I’d also recommend the highest mayhem level you can kill effectively while having the Moxxi (whatever one has the +8% combat XP) artifact equipped. This also scales with levels so if you have a low level one (around 8%), farm a new on-level one once you’re say 8 levels above, for a 10 or 11% XP boost. Not sure what a L65 one is, 14%??
