Do you think BL4 will have them? Because what's the point? Nobody uses them because the damage isn't there, nobody picks them up since their vendor value is too low to spend an inventory slot on, they are unnecessary as emergency transitionary weapons because you can just use a blue one.

I feel like trash items could be left behind as a thing of the past. What the exact reason for their existence, anyone got an idea?

You mean white common? It’s. Stable for looter based games obviously as you get the higher levels you’ll want the better quality gear. It’ll just leave green uncommon.

It would be interesting to see a more gentle curve regarding weapon rarity, at least through normal mode. But yeah white and green become useless pretty fast in BL3. The last update has an auto-sell feature, so at least you can auto-sell white guns when you pick them up.

I do when I can't find anything better. My operative had a green sniper for about 5-10 levels because all the blues were lower damage.

Under options / gameplay there is an option to set auto sell to anything up to purple. When you make the selection the game will auto sell anything picked up BELOW your choice. E.G. If you select Blue the game will sell green and white items, and keep blue purple and legendaries
