is this game worth it with this sale?

Hi all, I have never played borderlands and I want to try it. is this game worth it right now? do i need to play the other borderland games aswell or not?
please let me know and be kind :) thanks in advance

if you want to experience a really good Borderlands, I would recommend starting with Borderlands 2. Borderlands 3 has a lot of quality of life changes and the combat is super nice, but unfortuantely the story is.. I really didnt like it.

BL2 on the other hand is really well done and definitely a recommendation. (DLC characters, nice and long DLCs) back when 2k really put effort into their games. Now with Borderlands 3 they milked it with 500 DLCs.. anyway. Gungame in Borderlands 3 is even better than in 2.

Oh I forgot to mention: You don't *need* to play the previous games to be able to enjoy this one, but you will recognize some old characters. I for example never played the first one, only 2 and 3 :)

bl3 is worth it. you don't need to play the other borderlands games to play BL3.

BL3 is built on UE4, so ... it has fluid, highly interactive gameplay. It's easily the best game in the franchise in terms of the basic game mechanics.

The writing however is bottom-of-the-barrel, it's the worst of the four games (by a considerable margin) narratively speaking.

And ... Legendaries drop too often.

Personally, I'd suggest playing BL2 first.

BL3 on a good sale can be worth it. Same for Season Pass 1 which is campaign DLC. As for Season Pass 2, that must be a really good sale as is mainly for the 4th skill tree and the Arms Race.

The prior games are not required as you can jump right it. But there is a good amount that may be missed or not make sense if you haven't at least played BL2 (which many of us find to be much better on character development and story, though BL3 improves game mechanics).

I concur Legendaries drop too often. Feels like it was to placate those who just want participation instead of earning what they get.

If you get good sales for BL1 and BL The Pre Sequel (3rd game in the main series), or the Pandora's Box which covers practically everything, go for it as it is a fun ride all the way through.

Yes on sales it is worth it.
If you want to understand the story then of course starting with 1 would be a good idea, but gameplay wise that game is rather rough.
Handsome-collection for BL2/TPS on sale would bea great addition, or when it has a good sale then the PandoraCollection (that one also includes utter trash but the overall price on sale is rather good).

I see the 7th March on other bundles FOR Borderlands but not on that Pandoras Box collection. But could mean the sale is for that date aswell

I have the game on Epic. The gameplay is great, I love the movement and combat in this game. The story though?? Ooooo it's ass. The Handsome Jack DLC is great though! Really makes me wish they'd just remaster BL2 with this gameplay.
