Season passes worth it?

Base game is pretty cheap at the moment and season pass is more expensive then the game.

Is this the type of content that would come after the main gameplay completion?

Season Pass 1 is great, it has story DLCs and they're really enjoyable ; you might find the stories are a lot better than the main story

Season Pass 2 has a new skill tree which is pretty cool and Ava's content pack + some more stuff. Buy it on sale, but it's decent otherwise. Moze and Zane get some fun stuff from the 4th skill tree. There's also Arms Race which is like a battle royale mode that drops you in a huge area with no weapons or skills.

And you'll probably want to play the story DLCs after the main game, but technically you can play them whenever you get to Sanctuary.
