My experience playing on Steam deck OLED
As someone who has played BL3 more than 40 hours on the steam deck OLED and some hours on the LCD, i can say its a blast to play and have had very few hiccups in the immersion. I will share info of what i experienced and some of the things that you work against if you decide playing BL3 on the SD

The steam deck OLED holds up playing 800p medium settings while running 50-60 fps for the majority of the game (40-50 fps during fights). I find medium settings looking identical to high/ultra on a smaller screen. 800p is quite sharp and will look beautiful with the outlines the borderlands style has. There will be some stutters along the way when changing to certain weapons for the first time. There isnt input delay past the delay amount ~50 fps brings naturally. On the steam deck LCD i experienced more stuttering, but i dont have enough experience on the LCD to make an universal statement.

You would prefer to play BL3 on the steam deck OLED while on a 45 fps cap. The screen refresh rate of OLED works best with either 90, 45 or 30 fps because it fits perfectly within the frame timing of the 90hertz screen, and 45 is a great middle ground between choppy 30 fps and fluid 60 fps. The battery time on the OLED is around 2-3 hours, on LCD i dont think it can work for more than 1,5 hours.

I find the controls quite intuitive and relatively responsive, however there is no aimassist in practice youllhave to adjust your aim with the stick.

However, there are 2 problems you will run into quarter/halfway through the game. Firstly: Horrible optimalisation.
One of the problems you will run into is the game stuttering and freezing more and more as you progress through the game. This is a problem that occurs on any system when playing BL3, This is caused by the game constantly compiling shaders as you run the game. I dont know how exactly it works, but this adds up over time and will make the game very tedious and borderline unplayable halfway through the story. I prevent this by regularily deleting the SavedGames folder within [Borderlands 3/OakGame/Saved]. (it wont delete your accounts just shader cache)

Secondly, Weirdly running maps. A few maps like Apolleyon Station has some stuff that apparently doesnt work well with the proton layer and makes the game run at 20 fps. After a half hour of playing the system crashes to the point of creating graphical artifacts. I circumvent this dookie by playing (Ultra) low and lower resolution scale till that map is over. But these maps are kind of outliers compared to the amount that works well.

If you want to play BL3 on SD I would recommend picking the OLED, the oled has been proven to have less stuttering, smoother 45 fps, at least more than 1,5 hour battery and has beautiful 1000 nits HDR.
