Trial of Survival bug
Varkids coming out of pods sometimes will leave the pod as an underground enemy.
Or something. All I know is the Buddy Support Systems shoot their laser underground, the bug always lets me Attack Command the broken Varkid pod, and it's very annoying having to redo the Trial of Survival five times in a row.

Any ideas? Is there some splash damage weapon I can use to kill whatever's underground?

As you already discovered, buddy systems can get stuck in structures.. sometimes you can dmg it directly or ever somehow with splash dmg.. sometimes they are simply out of reach, rendering one enemy effectively invincible and in case of the trial, impossible to complete thanks to this
